No Foolin'
Hello:
As I finished preparing this newsletter, the pranksters were enjoying a day made for them: April Fool's Day. I'm always glad when that day has passed, especially if I make it through without getting fooled.
I do enjoy a laugh and some fun, but I'm not a fan of tricks, particularly when the mischief involves getting us hooked on substances and actions that are harmful to our bodies. Artificial flavorings and sugary sweeteners combined with addictive nicotine and drugs fool our minds into unhealthy cravings that are no joke.
The inflamation and pain that sugar brings starts as a temporary energy rush. The choking and sadness that a cigarette brings begins with a calming peace. No matter how much you may agree that each pillar of health (Eat Right; Think Right; Sleep Right; Move Right) is important, the motivation to build them into your lifestyle gets lost in the deception. In today's article, I offer new way to look at this, beyond yet another plea from your doctor or sponse to take care. In today’s featured article, I ask you to consider something even more important than lifespan: your healthspan.
Meanwhile, our Crave Clinic’s Spring session has just begun. Participants are learning how live again, and not just to exist, but to genuinely enjoy.
Beware the trickster who deceives your good health, no matter what day of the year it is.
We’re here to help,
Dr. Pfeiffer
