HSCTX Board President Resigns

Dearest Friends of the Humane Society of Central Texas,

With a heavy heart, I am sharing that Patricia Meadows has resigned as President of the Board of Directors at the Humane Society of Central Texas (HSCTX). I am stepping in as Interim President and will continue to share updates.

HSCTX remains committed to our mission of nearly four decades to build a community that promotes animal welfare through compassionate services towards animals and humans alike. Nurturing these values at the Waco Animal Shelter has led to one of the highest live exit rates for animals in municipal shelters across Texas, placing HSCTX among leaders in our state's no-kill efforts. This success is a direct result of the unwavering dedication of our Board, staff, and volunteers who tirelessly work to lend a hand to every animal and person in crisis that crosses our path.

To ensure HSCTX's ability to continue our lifesaving supportive services at the Waco Animal Shelter, you can help us today by writing to our City of Waco leaders. You can find a template letter with suggested recipient email addresses in this attachment link.

Additionally, here are more ways you can join our mission:

  • Become a monthly donor. This is a powerful way to consistently support and provide stability for animals in crisis, helping us continue our vital work to improve the bond between people and pets;
  • Consider adopting instead of shopping for your next furry friend. Our full-service adoption packages are always the most affordable option to set you up for success;
  • Open your home temporarily to an animal in need through our foster program. Fostering expands our capacity to care for the thousands of animals we meet each year and better prepare them for their forever homes:
  • Volunteer your time with us. Our volunteers not only enhance the quality of life for the animals but serve as the backbone of our lifesaving community mission;

Thank you for joining us to save lives and enhance animal welfare throughout our community. Through a community-minded approach, we can ensure every animal we meet has a chance to receive a life filled with love.

Best,

Zane Litle

Interim HSCTX Board President

Pictured above is Tank Valero - an aging shepherd mix who came to the Waco Animal Shelter underweight, chronically ill, and undersocialized from a lifetime of neglect. Our team rallied around his rehabilitation and a second chance at life, and we're pleased to share that Tank now has a rescue commitment where he can continue his rehabilitation without the threat of euthanasia due to space constraints - a risk many animals face every day in Waco.

Together, we are a voice for the voiceless.

Help us maintain our No-Kill

community mission.
