The International Plant and Animal Genome Conference (PAG 31)

Call for Poster Abstracts - EXTENDED


All Full Conference registered attendees are invited to submit a Poster Abstract, and/or a Digital Tools and Resources Abstract.


Posters will be presented at the conference in the Exhibit Hall, and listed in the program. There will be two poster sessions on site on Monday of the conference, where presenting authors are expected to be near their poster to answer questions and engage discussions.

PAG 31 Travel Grants Application - EXTENDED


We are pleased to offer various travel grants which each provide an award amount towards travel expenses, and complimentary registration to the conference.

PAG Mentor Program


Navigating your first international science meeting can be intimidating.

The PAG Mentor Program seeks to build a network to support early career scientists with navigating the conference, discussing a career path, or meeting experienced scientists in their field during the conference.


We are currently taking applications for both Mentors and First-timers, and are especially in need of those who are further along in their career and interested in mentoring.

PAG is Now a 6-Day Conference


We have added a full day of workshops to the schedule on Friday. Remember to pace yourself — there's a LOT of exciting workshops and events to attend!

Expanded Exhibit Times


We will be opening the Exhibit Hall three hours earlier on Sunday, at 12:00pm, so you can browse the exhibits in a relaxed way before the opening Plenary Session at 6:30 pm ( Reception to follow).

Postdoc Discount


We are offering a $100 discount to attendees in Postdoctoral Research positions. Please email a photo of your ID to pag@scherago.com to receive a discount code.

"Livestock and the Food Systems: A Focus on Smallholder Systems in the Global South”

Appolinaire Djikeng

Director General, International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Kenya


Appolinaire has expertise and interest in Genomics with applications in agriculture (both animals and crops), Human and environmental health. Appolinaire serves on numerous science advisory boards and has received many awards including the Nelson Mandela Peace Award.


Prior to ILRI, Appolinaire was Director of the Centre for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health (CTLGH) and based at the Roslin Institute and Chair for Tropical Agriculture and Sustainable Development at the University of Edinburgh. He has over 20 years’ research and institutional experience in academia and in international not for profit research institutions in the USA, Africa and UK.


Appolinaire is affiliated with The Roslin Institute, The University of Edinburgh (UK) as Professor, with the University of South Africa, College of Agriculture, and environmental science as Distinguished Professor, and with the University of Queensland, Center for Animal Science (Australia) and Honorary Professor.
