The move of the Columbus Rescue Mission from 1471-25th Avenue to its current location of 1112-15th Street has been completed for men overnight guests. We are still in need of financial donations to complete the work that must be done to finish painting, cleaning, etc. at the new facility as we will be opening the women's rooms and the family rooms in the very near future. If God puts it on your heart to make a donation, or to volunteer with the cleaning or painting, please contact the mission at 402-563-1096 and ask for Karen or Pastor Justin.

The Columbus and Living Water Rescue Mission - "Helping the Hurting and the Homeless in the name of Jesus Christ!"

Pastor Justin Fisher

Executive Director

Columbus Rescue Mission

May 2024

After many years of serving the community of York and the surrounding area, the Columbus Rescue Mission has decided to cease operations at the Living Water Rescue Mission in York. There have been many difficulties with having enough staff over the years and recently donations have dropped off considerably. There is a new group in York that wants to restart a Rescue Mission there, but that is likely a few months away. (I’m sure that you will hear more from them in the near future.) While this was an unforeseen and unfortunate turn of events, we must press on with the ministry here in Columbus. Due to the new building expenses and the over $20,000 in unpaid bills that we currently have, we need your support now more than ever! The summer months are almost upon us when donations traditionally decrease. If we go into the summer in the financial state that we are in, I’m not sure that this ministry will survive. This is not a scare tactic; this is the hard truth that the Columbus Rescue Mission is currently facing. We not only need help to get us back on track financially, but we need ongoing, monthly support going forward. I believe that this ministry is needed and important to Columbus and the surrounding area, but we cannot continue without your help right now. I know that many of you have been giving faithfully over the years, but we would ask you now to continue your giving; and if possible, to increase your giving with a one-time gift or a larger monthly gift. If you are not giving to the ministry of the Columbus Rescue Mission, now is the time to do so! Anything will help right now as we try and right the ship and move forward in sharing the gospel with all those that we work with. Please pray for us here at the Columbus Rescue Mission. Pray that God will provide for this ministry, pray for the staff during this difficult time and pray for the guests that we serve too. I realize that the tone of this letter is a bit serious, but in spite of this difficult situation that we are in, there are still good things happening here with the guests of the Mission. Lives are still being changed, the Word is still being preached, classes are still being taught and all of these things and more will continue as long as we are able. Please reach out if you have any questions and don’t forget to pray and give to continue the gospel work of the Columbus Rescue Mission.

For His Glory,

Pastor Justin Fisher

More Progress at the Columbus Rescue Mission

One of our goals for 2024 is to complete the Women and Family Wing of our new building. We are making progress, but we still have a ways to go. Some of our needs include: financial assistance, 10 metal bunk beds, curtains and much more! If you haven’t seen our new building, stop by for a tour.

The 18th Annual Columbus Rescue Mission Master's Classic is rapidly approaching. The Columbus event will be held on Friday, July 19th at the Elks Country Club.

The proceeds from these fundraising events will benefit many people in the Columbus area.

The cost to participate in the tournament is $75 per golfer or $300 for a team of four. There is no cost for pastors to play as we thank them for all that they do in serving our Lord! The entry fee includes green fees, cart, team prizes, flag prizes, door prizes, Rescue Mission golf hats and lunch.

Everyone is welcome to participate!

Awards will be presented following tournament play along with various hors d'oeuvres.

If you can not attend the events but would like to make a donation, it would be greatly appreciated. Please make checks payable to the Columbus Rescue Mission.

Please call the mission with any questions that you may have.

Keeping the Mission Clean

As we continue with construction on the rooms for women and families, we are needing cleaning supplies to get things squeaky clean for our new guests. We need items such as Pinesol cleaner, Mr. Clean, Windex, Clorox Wipes, etc. We go through several of these cleaning products each week. If God puts it on your heart to help us out by donating some of these items it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you to all our donors for all that you do for the Columbus Rescue Mission.

Finally, we are still in need of volunteers to help us in the sheds. Our volunteers primarily help with the sorting of clothes and helping the shoppers during their visit to the mission. Prayer Time at the Columbus Rescue Mission

Matthew 18:19-20 "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."

The power of prayer is so amazing. It is the time when God wants to share with us. Prayer by the individual is powerful in its own right, but when "two or three are gathered" the time spent in prayer can be an experience that we will never forget for the rest of our earthly lives.

We would like to invite you to share with us in prayer at our monthly prayer meetings at the Columbus Rescue Mission in Columbus. The prayer meetings are held the last Thursday of each month at 10 AM. The May meeting will be held on May 30. If you have any questions (or would like more information) please call Karen at 402-563-1096 Please consider joining our prayer with team!

As we are a 501 c 3, we accept no state or federal assistance. Please consider Him as you consider helping us.
