PDP application tips

Make sure you are completing your PDP applications correctly to avoid delays.

In order to ensure your Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) customer applications are processed correctly and in a timely fashion, please ensure you are following the tips below.

• Complete all required data fields on the application unless the field is marked as optional.


• When submitting an application using a Special Election Period (SEP), please ensure that the proper election type is being utilized. Pay close attention to SEPs that require a date. These dates and election types need to be accurate, or it could cause a delay in processing and/or could possibly cause the enrollment application to be denied.


• Ensure that the plan, effective dates, and Member Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) are listed correctly on the application.


Please note: The MBI is unique to each individual member. The same MBI cannot be used on multiple applications (e.g., spouses).


• Paper applications must be submitted to Cigna Healthcare within two days after being signed and dated to avoid a 'timeliness of application' violation.


• Enrollment applications must be signed and dated by the broker to comply with Medicare guidelines. Applications with missing signatures and/or dates will result in delays while our team conducts outreach to obtain the missing information.


• Scope of Appointment (SOA) forms must be completed 48 hours prior to enrollment. You must check the box for each product discussed, and the SOA form must be signed, dated, and submitted with the enrollment application to comply with Medicare guidelines.


• Please ensure that applications are faxed to the correct line of business. The PDP fax number is: 1.800.735.1469. 


• All online customer applications must be submitted through the broker portal (CignaforBrokers.com), not the customer portal. Applications submitted through the customer portal that are broker enrollments will result in that agent not being assigned the Agent of Record (AOR) and commissions will not be paid for that sale.
