Scholarship Opportunities for Child Welfare

Judges and Attorneys to Summer Conferences

The Children’s Commission is offering registration scholarships to attorneys to attend the live 2024 Advanced Family Law Child Abuse and Neglect Workshop in San Antonio and replay dates, as detailed below. The Commission is also offering reimbursement scholarships to judges and attorneys to attend the National Association of Counsel for Children’s (NACC) 47th National Child Welfare Law Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. Please read below for more information on both of these scholarship opportunities.

 

Applications for both scholarships will be accepted until midnight on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

Attorney Scholarships for the 2024 Advanced

Family Law Child Abuse and Neglect Workshop

The 2024 Advanced Family Law one-day Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) Workshop will be held live on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, as an in-person event in San Antonio, Texas, and as in-person video replays in Dallas on September 13, 2024, and in South Padre Island on October 25, 2024. Individuals who prefer to access the course remotely may attend one of two virtual webcast replays on September 26 and October 10, 2024. The Children’s Commission is offering 100 registration scholarships to attorneys to attend the 2024 CAN Workshop on one of the dates listed above. The scholarship will take the form of waived registration fees ($125) to attend the CAN Workshop only and not the full Advanced Family Law Course. The Children’s Commission is not able to reimburse attorneys who pay the State Bar of Texas directly for registration to attend the CAN Workshop.

 

For more information about the scholarship and to submit an application, please visit the Children’s Commission Scholarships webpage. The scholarship application period for the CAN Workshop will close at midnight on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

 

Please note that the registration fee for the CAN Workshop is waived for Texas judges. Judges wishing to attend the CAN Workshop should contact TexasBarCLE directly.

Judges and Attorney Scholarships for

NACC 45th National Child Welfare Law Conferences

The Children’s Commission is offering up to 8 reimbursement scholarships to judges and attorneys to attend the in-person National Association of Counsel for Children’s (NACC) 47th National Child Welfare Law Conference on August 12-14, 2024 in Salt Lake City, Utah. More information about the conference is available on the NACC website.

 

The scholarship will take the form of reimbursement of up to $1,200 for the conference registration fee and eligible conference-related travel expenses to attend the NACC Conference. The Children’s Commission will pay conference registration fees directly to NACC for each recipient, and NACC will register all Commission scholarship awardees. 

 

Judicial and attorney applicants may visit the Scholarships webpage for more information and a link to apply. The scholarship application period for the NACC Conference will close at midnight on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
