Dear Parents/Guardians,

Staff members have noticed a recent increase in unsafe practices during drop-off and pick-up, and we have also received a number of unfortunate complaints from our neighbors in the community. Please help OCSA students develop safe and responsible habits and support OCSA in maintaining positive relationships with the surrounding community by adhering to our drop-off and pick-up expectations, detailed below.

Reminders for All Families

  • For the safety of our students and other drivers, please refer to the Drop-Off/Pick-Up Map (also found at the bottom of this email) to ensure that you are using the designated locations for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.

  • Campus supervisors, security, and administrators monitor traffic flow. Please pay attention and follow the instructions of all staff members directing traffic.

  • Please move your car as far forward as possible before dropping off or picking up students. Students should always enter and exit the vehicle from the side of the car facing the curb and utilize pedestrian crosswalks.

  • Please DO NOT stop your car in a traffic lane, in the middle of the street, or in a bus stop area while your student exits or enters your vehicle.

  • Please refrain from dropping off or picking up your student by parking/waiting in nearby business parking lots or in OCSA student parking lots.

Reminders for Main Street Drop-Off/Pick-Up

  • Please do not stop anywhere there is a “No Stopping at Any Time” sign, including on Bush Street between 10th Street and 11th Street, on the east side of Main Street before 10th Street, and on the west side of Main Street after 10th Street.

  • Please do not block the entrances to any of our neighbors’ parking lots or facilities, including the entrance to the Child Support Services parking structure on 10th Street.

Reminder for Sycamore Street Drop-Off

  • Please do not park in the new drop-off zone on Sycamore Street (in purple on the map) or your car will be ticketed or towed.

Reminder for Center for the Arts Pick-Up

  • Drivers exiting the Center for the Arts parking lot should stay to the right to keep the driveway open for patrons of our neighboring businesses who are trying to enter the parking lot. Please also be mindful of the patrons trying to exit the lot from the parking spots that are designated for those businesses.

Drop-off and pick-up are the most chaotic times on campus, and we need everyone’s help to keep the streets around OCSA safe. We recommend all families leave a bit earlier in the morning to reduce traffic and stress. If your child arrives early to school, you will be less tempted to compromise safety in order to drop off quickly.

Thank you; we appreciate your continued commitment to student safety.

Sincerely,

OCSA Administration
