Dear Members,
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of the Stamford Family YMCA at 10 Bell St, Stamford, CT, effective March 31, 2024. After faithfully serving our community since 1868, we face insurmountable challenges that have led to this difficult decision.
Financial strain from maintaining an aging infrastructure and declining membership and program enrollment has made it impossible to continue operations. Despite extensive efforts to explore alternatives, the after-effects of the pandemic and reduced public funds for after-school care have proven too significant.
We sincerely thank you for your unwavering support and loyalty throughout the years. Your commitment has been the cornerstone of our community, and we appreciate the impact each of you has had on our mission.
All memberships will be honored until our closing date, March 31, 2024, with additional measures to ease the burden on our members. Those drafted on March 1 will remain active until March 31, 2024. Members drafted on the 15th will be pro-rated from March 15 to March 31, 2024.
We are working with neighboring Y's to facilitate a smooth transition for your memberships and will provide you with updates as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding, support, and dedication. We value you and your role in making the Stamford Family YMCA a cherished institution.
