This patented coating, which comes in a liquid form, is sprayed onto the touch screen glass surface during the touch screen’s manufacturing process, and sinters into the surface as a thin 20-nanometer (0.00002 mm) layer during firing at high temperature. As visible light falls on the coated surface, it activates a unique proprietary mix of molecules. Once activated through power of photocatalysis, this mix reacts with moisture in the air to form reactive oxygen species. These agents constantly attack and destroy the harmful bacteria they encounter, leaving a super hygienic, germ-free surface. In chemistry, photocatalysis is the acceleration of a photoreaction in the presence of a catalyst - by adding substances (catalysts) that participate in the chemical reaction without being consumed. The technology also works at night, because LCD panels produce light, too.
