Dear members and friends:

The 2023/2024 season for Impact100 Martin is off to a hot start. We have exciting news to share on several fronts.

First, we are thrilled to announce that Wendy Steele will be the keynote speaker at our Kickoff on November 9. It’s such an honor to have Wendy with us – the woman who started it all more than 20 years ago! She will share her personal story and insights on where the movement has been and where it is going. Get ready to be inspired.

Wendy’s book, Invitation to Impact, is available on Amazon. This newsletter includes a link so you can order and read it before her visit. Our Board of Directors read it and gained fresh insights into how community transformation is possible when women work together.

Event details and a link for registration will be in our September newsletter. Wouldn’t this be a great way to introduce a friend to Impact100 Martin?

Our other big news is that Impact100 Martin is now an approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization!  We will no longer need to coordinate through The Community Foundation Martin-St. Lucie. Annual membership checks should now be made payable to Impact100 Martin, Inc., even if you are paying from a Donor Advised Fund or Charitable Trust. Your fund administrator will find us on the listing of IRS-approved nonprofit organizations.

In a few weeks, you’ll receive our annual membership appeal letter and an update on our plans for the year. We will have more ways to connect with local nonprofits – and with each other. We appreciate your early renewals, your commitment to Evergreen membership, and your evangelism! We gained more than 100 new members last year because you invited friends to events and told them why you are a member. If you continue to do that, we can make Wendy’s vision a reality.

I look forward to meeting each and every one of you this year!

With gratitude,

Maureen Cotter, President

The woman who started it all!

We’re thrilled to announce that Wendy Steele will be the keynote speaker at our Kickoff on November 9 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Elliott Museum. Come and meet the visionary woman who started the Impact100 movement more than 20 years ago!

Wendy will share her personal journey of building one of today’s most powerful grassroots organizations that invites women to become part of the solution by impacting their very own communities. Save the date and invite a friend!

Invitation to Impact: Lighting the Path to Community Transformation

If you haven’t read it yet, be sure to pick up a copy of Wendy’s debut book, Invitation to Impact: Lighting the Path to Community Transformation. Part business book, part memoir, Invitation to Impact provides insights for catalyzing meaningful change by giving women a seat at the table and a chance to join the movement—or spark one within themselves.

The Education Foundation Martin County has been busy preparing for the launch of the EFMC Career Exploration Labs funded in our 2023 Impact100 grants cycle. According to Executive Director Lisa Rhodes, the labs have been installed at all school sites and teacher training has begun.  EFMC offered two $200 stipends for each lab teacher who wanted to get a head start on further familiarizing themselves with and organizing the new labs prior to the start of their teacher-contracted hours.

Organizational materials and consumable materials for the authentic hands-on student learning activities as part of the labs have been purchased, but additional materials are needed to support the entire year. EFMC has a Fund-a-Project wish list. Supporters can go online and donate to the labs of their choice.

The Education Foundation of Martin County received a $100,000 impact grant in 2023 for this project.
