Hello Immanuel Family and Friends,

For this Sunday and the upcoming week -

Sermon Sample: When we are faced with temptation in our lives do you think that God is tempting us or is God testing us? Scripture says in James 1:13 "Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He (God) Himself tempt anyone." On Sunday, we will look at the one who tempts us.

Weekly Update: I am continuing to meet with many of you from the church and have found you to be a group of loving members of the body of Christ. I have also had the opportunity to attend ALL ministry meetings and am excited to see the incredible work that is going on here at Immanuel. Meanwhile I am leading Session in a project called Strength Finders where the Elders will participate in team building exercises that will build trust, encourage collaboration, and strengthen the ministries.

Also, after 6 years with Immanuel, Kate Kelly has turned in her resignation. Kate has been a beloved employed here at Immanuel and we celebrate her service here at the church where she will be truly missed. While speaking with Kate about her decision to resign, she said, she is simply ready for some time off after many years of service. Kate has no plans of taking on other employment and we bless her and wish her well in her time with family. Her last official day will be September 20th, and we will celebrate her during worship service on Sunday, September 22nd.

Weekly Challenge: Thank you to the ones who spoke words of affirmation to those who served at church last week. Each person really appreciated your kind words! This week I’d like to carry this theme of kindness into your personal lives. Like Adam and Eve who lived in the garden with God, we also live in community with family and friends, but how often do we just call one another to say “I love you” or “I am thankful for you?” My challenge this week, is that you would call a family member, friend, neighbor or someone and express some words of kindness to them.

Hugs and Blessings,

Pastor Tina
