One Service at 10:00am

Dear Immanuel,

Since retiring from my church in Green Valley, I am not allowed back on campus for a year (this is common practice in the Presbyterian denomination). The question I faced was “Where do I go to church?” 

As I began to visit churches (both in person and virtually), I noticed something interesting. Some churches took out the phrase “[Jesus] descended into hell” in The Apostles Creed. In my previous church, some people would not say that phrase while uttering the Creed. Apparently, this is an issue. 

Why is this phrase in The Apostles Creed? Did Jesus really go to hell? And maybe we need to ask: Is there a hell? And, really does it matter? I think it matters greatly. Come this Sunday as we worship and explore the reason why this phrase is so important to our faith.

Interim Pastor Update - We have some disappointing news. The candidate we were preparing to present to the session decided early this week to withdraw from consideration. No specific reason was provided. However, we already have an interview scheduled with another candidate next week. While this journey has been longer than we expected, we are committed to the work of finding the person that God has called as our interim pastor.

Help us decorate the sanctuary for VBS after church on Sunday!

Agape Circle on Wednesday June 12 at 11:00am.  Join us at Mary Kay Bush’s home. We will not be having a lesson but will have joys and concerns. We will break for summer and start again on Wednesday, September 11th. Lydia Circle Movie Night On Monday, June 17 – All ladies are encouraged to join us for a fun night of friends, popcorn and a movie. Exact movie, place and time to be announced – please contact Joanne Patterson at 520-298-5860.

Reminder - Our summer schedule is one service on Sundays at 10:00am. Join us for our summer service time at 10:00am. The service will have elements of both alternative and traditional styles of worship. We will have fellowship hour afterwards with some cool summer treats! Looking forward to seeing you there. We return to two service (8:30am/11:00am) on Sunday, August 18.

Men’s Bible Study on Mondays at 10:00am - Come hang out with the guys, have coffee and dig deeper into scripture and connect with friends. Meets in Witherspoon Hall.

Desert Sages on Tuesdays from 10:00am – 12:30pm. Join us for games, fellowship and food in Witherspoon Hall every Tuesday from 10:00am – 12:30pm. Enjoy new friends and old while playing Mexican train, bridge, hand and foot, Rummikub and anything else you want while snacking on popcorn. Crafters Group on Thursdays from 9:30am – 12:00pm. All are welcome to come and work on your crafts together and enjoy fellowship and laughs. We make quilts, blankets and projects for local missions. We also work on our own projects for fun – grab your gear and join us!

Agape Circle Women’s Bible Study - Come join us on the second Wednesday of every month from 9:00am -12:00pm in the home of Mary Kay Bush. We start the morning with a light brunch provided by members, followed by Joys and Concerns, and then are led in our Horizon bible study by Cheryl Wood and Jane Eddy. New members are always welcome!
