Dear Immanuel,

Recently, a friend of mine sent me a word study on the Hebrew word for thank you or thanksgiving. It is to-da or to-dah (accent on second syllable). The Greek word for thanksgiving is Eucharistia. It is where we get the name Eucharist, another name for Communion (mostly used by Catholics).

My friend wondered if the English expression “ta-da!” comes from the Hebrew word to-dah. Mostly used after a magic trick, ta-da is mock fanfare calling attention to something remarkable.

My friend, who is Catholic, writes, “But the Eucharist, the great thanksgiving, is not mock fanfare…and more miracle than magic. Next time I call attention to something remarkable and use the word ta-da! I will be using it as an expression of gratitude. Thank you, God, for this wonder!! To-da/ta-da! I will say it at the Eucharist this evening.”

This Sunday in Communion or Eucharist, receive it with wonder and thanksgiving, perhaps exclaiming ta-da!

See you in church!

Interim Pastor Update - On behalf of the Session, the Interim Search Team is thrilled to introduce our Interim Pastor, Reverend Tina Salvaneschi. Tina Salvaneschi has over twenty-five years of experience in both business and ministry. She is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, holds a real estate license, and serves her community as a pastor and local missionary. She holds a master’s in Christian studies and a Masters of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. Reverend Salvaneschi is a specialist in Change Agentry, and Conflict Management, and has a minor in Counseling.

She is completing her call as Head of Staff at The Holy Way in Tucson where the objective was to assess, organize, then help revitalize the church. Moving from a pastor led church, to a Session led church was a wonderful and challenging experience as she helped lead, train and equip leaders into the ministry, service and ownership of their church. You can read her bio HERE.

Pastor Tina will begin August 5, and her first Sunday will be August 11. Pastor Diane will continue to serve until that time, with her last Sunday being August 4.

Thank you for your support and prayers,
