Is a Total System Check REALLY Necessary?

Water Pro Services

It's a new year and you want to do things right this year. And, that includes an annual checkup on your water system and drinking water system filter change. Remember, just because you cannot taste it, does not mean that it is not there. Many contaminants in the drinking water are undetectable to the taste. Additionally, over time if you do not replace the filter elements, they are prone to bacteria growth as well as other bad tastes and odors that will be apparent in your drinking water. This is why it is important to change your filters at the recommended intervals and confirm (at least annually) that your water system is working properly.

We service and repair almost all brands of water systems whether they were purchased from us or not. If your equipment is a few years old or decades old, our techs can perform a Total System Check, and assess repair, if needed. They will assess your water system, can test your water if needed, and IF repair is necessary, they can determine if your current system is worth repairing or recommend replacement.

What exactly is a Total System Check?

Once per year, our professional service technicians will:

  • perform a thorough check of your system, including confirming proper regeneration cycles (cleaning itself)
  • check and clean some of the internal components
  • check for leaks
  • always be on the lookout to identify or prevent additional problems

Yes, a Total System Check, otherwise known as an annual maintenance, really is necessary to providing you and your family the best possible water! This check is strongly recommended as it is one of the best ways to keep your system up and running correctly and efficiently while protecting your investment, as well.

Champ RO with Permeate Pump

Start 2024 with Great Water!

Who doesn't want great water in 2024? There's no better time than a brand new year to turn over a new leaf toward being healthy and really putting forth the effort to doing what's right for you and your family. And, drinking great tasting, quality water is your first (and easiest) step toward meeting that goal for you and your family.

Now is the time to look into a Reverse Osmosis (RO) system! Our standard RO comes with a non-electric permeate pump which provides faster water production and better water pressure and can usually be hooked up to your refrigerator. We've even included an actual photo of an RO system in place so that you can see how small it is... it fits under your kitchen sink! Or sometimes they can be installed in your crawlspace.

O-ring Change Tips

O-ring and filter

When you remove the filter, be careful not to lose the black rubber O-ring at the top of the filter housing.

Using a clean rag, wipe the O-ring and be sure there is no sand or grit on the O-ring. Otherwise, it may not seal properly and the filter housing will leak.

Put new filter in housing and line it up with the top of the housing.

Hand tighten it by turning it counter-clockwise. The filter wrench should only be used to loosen the filter housing, not tighten it. Overtightening repeatedly will stretch the O-ring and cause the housing to leak

Generally, you should not need any kind of lubricant. If the O-ring and the O-ring groove inside of housing are both free of dirt and grit, and the filter housing is still leaking, you may need to replace your O-ring. They do stretch over time. If you do not have one available, you may use a very small amount of approved silicone lubricant only to seal.
