Welcoming Effie Hernandez as Native American Student Services Coordinator

The Office of Equity and Inclusion is pleased to announce that Effie Hernandez will be joining the Student Affairs team as the Native American Student Services Coordinator, starting June 17. Effie will serve as the main point of contact for current, new, and prospective Native students. She will also serve as the chair for Indigenous People’s Day and Native American Heritage Month and will provide outreach in the form of K-12 education initiatives, career days, and other events to Native American Communities.

ISU Mourns the Loss of Emeritus Professor of Anthropology Dr. Tony Stocks

The Department of Anthropology, the College of Arts and Letters, and the greater ISU community mourn the loss of Dr. Anthony (Tony) Stocks, Emeritus Professor of Anthropology. He joined the combined Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work at ISU as an Assistant Professor in 1979. He became full Professor in 1991, and served as Anthropology Program Director until 1993 when the Department of Anthropology was formed.

Laura Gleason Spring 2024 CPI Supervisor of the Semester

The Career Path Internship (CPI) program is excited to announce Laura Gleason as the Spring 2024 CPI Supervisor of the Semester. Gleason is the Student Success Librarian and Assistant Professor at Idaho State University's Eli M. Oboler Library. Gleason has experienced both sides of the CPI program, having worked as an intern at the Eli M. Oboler Library during the last semester of her undergraduate degree. She continued to pursue a Masters in Library and Information Science, and now enjoys the opportunity to supervise CPI interns.

Idaho State Today is a twice-weekly employee newsletter that shares University successes, campus updates, and recognizes faculty and staff accomplishments. All past editions of the newsletter are archived online.


To submit a campus update or story for Idaho State Today, fill out the online form by Friday at noon for Monday's edition, and Wednesday at noon for Thursday's edition. A separate newsletter called ROAR Weekly is sent to students on Wednesdays.
