ISU Sport and Exercise Science Alumna Excels in Medical School

Hannah Wright, an Idaho native from Aberdeen, first stepped foot onto the Idaho State University campus in 2016 with the intention of majoring in physical therapy and athletic training.


However, after touring the ISU Human Performance Lab in Reed Gym during a campus tour with her fellow classmates from Aberdeen High School, and meeting the department faculty, Wright knew immediately that the sport and exercise science (SES) major was the perfect fit for her.

ISU Mourns the Loss of Emeritus English Professor Dr. Thomas J. Pfister

Thomas James Pfister left us unexpectedly on June 30, 2024 from a sudden cardiac event. He was sixty-eight, and the last member of his branch of the family tree. He leaves many devoted friends who will long remember his goodness, generosity, and many talents.

Tom came to Idaho State University in 1996 as Lecturer in English and stayed until fall 2022, when Parkinson’s disease forced early retirement. Students enjoyed his wide-ranging intelligence and his humor, especially his impersonations of literary characters.

Scheduled Power Outages July 31 and August 1 during Ongoing Steam Tunnel Construction

As part of the work on ISU's steam tunnels, a scheduled power outage, determined by Idaho Power, will take place in the Business Administration Building on Wednesday, July 31 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  

Power in Frazier Hall will still be off all day shutdown on Thursday, August 1. During the outages, switch gears will be upgraded and crews will install new underground power lines outside of the tunnels. Workers will be installing and upgrading transformers for each building as well.

To submit a campus update or story for Idaho State Today, fill out the online form by Friday at noon for Monday's edition, and Wednesday at noon for Thursday's edition. A separate newsletter called ROAR Weekly is sent to students on Wednesdays.
