Graduation Story Series: Student to Graduate from Teaching Program After Surviving Car Accident

Phil Gamache is a bright, determined student who will be graduating from the secondary education program at the Idaho State University College of Education with endorsements in history and social studies in May 2024. Gamache’s passion for teaching came from simply wanting to help others, and he is now looking forward to having a rewarding career as a secondary educator. In 2022, while on his way to class, Gamache was struck by a bus, which gave him a severe concussion and caused him to struggle to do things he was normally good at, including recalling complex information and learning. Following his accident, he began to notice the injury affecting his grades.

Making History for Debate in Idaho

In a groundbreaking stride for Indigenous representation, three students from Shoshone-Bannock Jr. and Sr. High School are poised to make history at the National Speech and Debate Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa. Created by Jett Smith and Abbey Vaughn, two ISU alumni, this is the first all-Indigenous speech and debate team in Idaho.

Google Storage Limits Approaching

Due to changes in Google's approach to digital data storage for education subscriptions, Google accounts must be below storage limit requirements by May 1. Beginning May 7 storage limits will be implemented and the Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) will continue the process of preparing ISU to be within Google’s university limits by June 30.

To submit a campus update or story for Idaho State Today, fill out the online form by Friday at noon for Monday's edition, and Wednesday at noon for Thursday's edition. A separate newsletter called ROAR Weekly is sent to students on Wednesdays.
