From the Advancement Committee:
Friends, we've made it to the middle of August. Wow! Summer sure is in a hurry to finish up. Let's be praying for folks starting up school, preparing for harvest, gearing up for IYM committees, etc. As we go through endings and beginnings we are blessed to have Jesus Christ our Lord right beside us through everything. So, we are starting our fundraising efforts in support of the 2024 IYM budget. We have received $8,600, along with $12,700 in pledges -- we are grateful for the $21,300 raised since IYM sessions. If you have questions about why we are raising these funds, any fundraising suggestions for us, or you'd like us to offer any training/guidance for raising funds, let us know. We are happy to work along with you, and we need your engagement in this effort. Give damon a call at 517-204-5348 if we can serve you in some way.

From the Christian Service Committee:
We are in the midst of folks dealing with great needs such as loved ones struggling with being anxious, overwhelmed and/or defeated, and doubting. Please share with us how your church is caring for folks. How are you serving your church and community? We will offer these stories with all of IYM to encourage and motivate and provide some guidance. Keep serving well dear friends. The church is the answer for healing our ailing world. As children of God and followers of Jesus Christ, our mission is before us. Share your stories, ask us to come meet with your church to dream and mobilize once you have direction -- contact damon at dseacott@gmail.com or give a call if you'd rather just talk about it: 517-204-5348.

Good Morning,
I thought it appropriate, today, to take a look at some of the Queries for Spiritual Growth found
in Faith and Practice (starting on page 40). Perhaps it would be good for you to spend some time with these in your Sunday School class, small group, or with your children or spouse this week.
Sacramental Living
Do you seek to live in constant communion with Jesus Christ? Do you partake of the Bread of Life and find refreshment in the Living Water, which is found in Jesus Christ alone? Do you experience baptism with the Holy Spirit, allowing every part of your life to come under the transforming influence of Christ's power, truth, and love? Do you recognize that this life is found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and does not depend on any ritual, ceremony, or outward observance?
As you consider these questions, consider also this passage from the book of John (chapter 7, verses 37-39):
On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.
May these words from the Holy Scriptures and your thoughts from the queries bring about the transformation we all seek. May we be moved, even more, into the likeness of Jesus Christ!
-Pat Byers
