Inspiration. Empowerment. Introspection. These were keywords at last week's
conference
kick-off event, From Inspiration to Impact, where we invited members of the IWL community to join us for a screening of the documentary
The Empowerment Project
. This film was created by a crew of women all going through transitional periods in their lives. They road trip across the United States to interview seven strong women who have been exceptionally successful in typically male-dominated career fields. Through this month-long journey, the filmmakers experience their own transformations as they reflect on the question, "What would you do if you knew you wouldn't fail?"

Christi Anderson Personal Innovation Award
Last year at our conference we continued The Christi Anderson Personal Innovation Award - a scholarship in honor of Christi Anderson, an IWL Board Member who left us too soon. Christi was passionate about helping other women in leadership and we honor Christi by awarding this scholarship every year to a woman who is looking to innovate herself, to be better and do better - just like Christi did, and who could benefit from the financial assistance to do so. What better way to honor a life than to affect change in another's?

Our theme for July is Inspiration!
After viewing The Empowerment Project at our conference kickoff event - From Inspiration to Impact - we feel inspired to "be the captain of our own life." This month we encourage you to reflect on the people who inspire you and what it is about them that matters to you. We all need mentors and role models to inspire us, and there are some pretty awesome people out there. Consider writing one of your role models a note showing your appreciation for them. Let's take this month as a chance to be inspired!
