Chicago Apprentice Network

Thursday, July 11th, the Chicago Apprentice Network celebrated an exciting milestone at Accenture Tower, marking the success of over 2,000 apprentices and 140 employers since its launch by Aon, Accenture, and Zurich North America in 2017! Brent Parton, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Employment and Training Administration at the U.S. Department of Labor, was the Keynote Speaker.

Inspiring messages were heard from top leaders and apprentices at Aon, Accenture, and Zurich North America, including:

-Lester B. Knight, Chair of the Board of Directors at Aon

-Kristof Terryn, Chief Executive Officer at Zurich North America

-Aaron Henry, IT Apprentice at Zurich North America and Apprenticeship Illinois Ambassador

-Gabriela Caballero, Apprentice Alumni and Enterprise Workforce Business Process Specialist at Aon, U.S. Department of Labor Apprentice Trailblazer, and Chicago Apprentice Network Ambassador


Julio Rodriguez, Deputy Director of the Office of Employment and Training at the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, was honored to receive recognition for the State of Illinois' support through public-private partnerships. Joining the celebration were the Chicago Apprentice Network co-founders and continued champions:

-Daniel Serota, Vice President of Government and Public Affairs at Aon and Chair of the Illinois Workforce Innovation Board Apprenticeship Illinois Committee

-Al Crook, Head of HR Business Partners and Apprenticeship at Zurich North America and Illinois Workforce Innovation Board Apprenticeship Illinois Committee Member

-Michael Chiappetta, Director of Chicago Market Development at Accenture

Apprentice Ambassadors Recent Celebrations!

Apprentice Ambassadors Kandis Draw, Zoe Pierce, and Bianca Harmon have recently leveled up BIG in their careers! Kandis was recently promoted to Senior Community Education Associate at The HAP Foundation and snagged the 2024 Health and Medicine Policy Research Award for Emerging Leader - talk about a double win! The HAP Foundation couldn't contain their excitement, praising Kandis for her outstanding achievements in public health sharing. "We are excited to share that Kandis Draw was selected as a 2024 recipient of the Health and Medicine Policy Research Award! This award celebrates phenomenal achievements and contributions within the field of public health, and it is a tremendous honor to receive this distinction. She will be honored at their annual awards gala in September." Let's roll out the red carpet for her at the annual awards gala in September!


A big round of applause also goes to Apprentice Ambassador Zoe Pierce for landing a new gig at Samron Midwest Contracting, and a huge shoutout to Bianca Harmon for upgrading from an apprentice to a full-fledged IAM Engineer I at McDonald's. Bianca's passionate about the journey so far and can't wait to dive into the next thrilling chapter ahead! She took to her LinkedIn to share her exciting news, saying, "It's been an amazing journey thus far, and as the apprenticeship concludes, a new chapter unfolds. I am grateful for the support, mentorship, and learning opportunities I have received. I am looking forward to my exciting journey ahead!"
