Rams and LA Promise Fund Create Summer Internship Program for IUSD Students

I n partnership with Inglewood Unified School District and LA Promise Fund , the Rams created a Training Camp Internship program for deserving students from City Honors and Morningside High School to expose them to career opportunities in professional sports. From the end of July through August, the selected students worked as part of the Rams Community Affairs team throughout training camp at UC-Irvine.

Woodworth-Monroe Community Vegetable Garden Installation

IUSD Food Services in Collaboration with Southern California Edison, the Social Justice Institute and over fifty (50) volunteers joined forces to build a sustainable vegetable garden at Woodworth-Monroe TK-8 Academy. The garden will be used for hands-on instruction in photosynthesis, nutrition, maintenance and serve as a centerpiece of the campus. IUSD would like to extend a special Thank you to our volunteers and Principal Renee Williams for making this possible for the students.

Morningside HS Monarchs Alumni Association Partners with the Earl and Anna Broady Foundation to support IUSD Schools

The Morningside High Monarchs Alumni Association, founded in 2009, provides grants to teachers and scholarships to students. To date, the foundation has:

Donated over $273,000 to Morningside High School
Recognized 110 students for Outstanding Citizenship.
Provided 161 Scholarships and Awards
59 Grants to Teachers for programs to enrich the Arts, Academic Achievement and School Related Activities.

IUSD Teachers Meet the Parents at Back-to-School Night

It's that time of year again! IUSD Schools opened it's doors to the parent community. After a message from the principal and staff introductions all parents traveled to their scholars classroom. Each teacher outlined the curriculum, class rules, grading policy, and specific ways to engage IUSD students at home. Inglewood Police Department also conducted a short workshop on School Safety while IUSD Food Services prepared and served snacks for IUSD parent visitors.

1st Annual IUSD Community Wellness Fair

I USD launched a new school year with a focus on wellness! Hundreds of people attended this years event at Morningside High School. IUSD, Food Forward along with the Social Justice Learning Institute gave away 600 bags of fresh produce at the Food for Thought booth. Attendees participated in workshops, healthcare screenings, athletic activities, photos with the Rams Mascot and visited the informational booths. City Councilman Dotson (District 1) and Councilman Padilla (District 2), School Board members Dr. Faulk, Dr. McGhee, Dr. Scorza and state administrator Dr. Melendez all joined in on the fun.
