ITGA/ELGL GovLove Podcast

ITGA and ELGL are once again collaborating on a special GovLove podcast series that focuses on the unique challenges and opportunities in campus communities, this time about COVID response and recovery. Five ITGA campus communities have been selected to participate in the podcast series. Ideally, recordings will be conducted in November, for Nov/Dec release dates.

Local Universities Start Changing Police Practices

Body cameras, more training and community input, new responses to mental health calls and more data sharing are among the changes area college police departments have made. After Floyd's death, colleges started or restarted task forces.

Resources for Commuter and Housing-insecure Students

UCLA's BruinHub provides commuter and housing-insecure students with a place to study, relax and sleep throughout the week, according to Archinect. The BruinHub is open for almost 24 hours between Mondays and Thursdays.

Marcus Rashford MBE Received Honorary Degree

England international footballer Marcus Rashford MBE received his honorary doctorate from the University of Manchester. This prestigious award is for his ongoing charity work and campaign against child poverty off the field, and sporting achievements.

Students Knock on Doors to Improve Uni & Community Relations

University students at Reading are working to build better relations with the local community. Students accompanied by university staff and Reading Borough counsellors have been knocking on doors around the campus to speak to local residents.

Students Call on University to End Exclusivity with Coke Canada

Students from the Queen's Alma Mater Society are calling on the university to end an exclusivity agreement with beverage company Coke Canada Bottling, in an effort to highlight local vendors. Queens formed a stakeholder group to review exclusivity contracts.
