International Coffee Hour is a great way to connect with other students/scholars (both domestic and international) and meet UMD staff and faculty while enjoying coffee, tea, and snacks! International Coffee Hour takes place Thursdays from 2:30pm - 3:30pm at various locations around our beautiful campus. English Conversation Partners


English Conversation Partners brings together our UMD community from all over the world to engage in interesting discussions with each other. During the semester, participants (students, spouses, faculty, staff) meet in groups with a fluent English speaking facilitator. These groups provide an opportunity to learn from one another, make friends, and of course become more comfortable and confident in English. Some topics include: US Culture, Food, Travel, Politics, and much more... really whatever you like to talk about! Talk to you soon!

Immigration Help


Legal Aid offers 30-minute consultations with an immigration attorney for international, undocumented, and immigrant students one day per month during the fall and spring semesters. These consultations are with a specialized immigration attorney who is familiar with student-related issues. Click here to find out more.

Nobuntu

An all-female a cappella quartet from Zimbabwe, Nobuntu has drawn international acclaim for inventive performances that range from traditional Zimbabwean songs to Afro jazz to gospel. The ensemble’s concerts are performed with pure voices, augmented by minimalistic percussion, traditional instruments such as the mbira (thumb piano) and organic, authentic dance. The word “Nobuntu” is an African concept that values humbleness, love, unity and family from a woman’s perspective. This program features traditional songs and original arrangements.

Searching For Arabic Language Partners

The Arabic Flagship Program at the University of Maryland is seeking to hire Arabic Language Partners (from Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, or Syria) with formal education in Arabic to assist with tutoring students of Arabic as a second language with their speaking skills in Arabic.
