ISB Team Fought Hunger at 2016 Hunger Walk!

Thank you to everyone for joining the ISB team for the 2016 Hunger Walk on March 13th. The ISB was glad to help the Atlanta Community Food Bank take the next step in the fight against hunger.  Over 20 metro Atlanta-based Muslim organizations participated under the banner of the ISB for this year's hunger walk. 
Nominations Open for "40 Under 40 Georgia Muslims!"

Enter yourself or nominate a colleague, family member or friend for the ISB's 2016 "40 Under 40 Georgia Muslims!" T he "40 Under 40 Georgia Muslims" recognizes individuals for their work that makes an impact on the community at large. The nomination deadline is May 1st, 2016. ISB Speakers Training a Success! 


The ISB offered its annual New Speaker Training on March 19th at the Georgia Institute of Technology.  The ISB training team included Executive Director, Soumaya Khalifa, Amin Tomeh, Noor Abbady, Fairyal Halim, Tariq Abdul-Haqq, Sarah Kabbani, and Said Elkhodary. Approximately 20 trainees were present and varied from high-schoolers to working professionals. 
 
After introductions led by Amin Tomeh, Soumaya Khalifa gave an overview of ISB. Fairyal Halim educated trainees on becoming a speaker and discussed the 1st amendment and its role in the ISB's style of training. Amin Tomeh gave the trainees insight on speaker tips and communications skills while Noor Abbady followed with an overview of the presentations. The trainees put their learning into action and mastered their communication skills. After lunch, Tariq Abdul-Haqq covered the Q&A part of the presentation. The session ended with the trainee's first certification test.  
 
The trainers kept the trainees engaged and excited. The trainees left with  knowledge that enhanced not only their public speaking experience, but also their professional experience. Thank you to the trainers and to the trainees for making the session a success!
April 7th: Deadline Extended to Submit E ssays!
Middle and High School students are at a pivotal part of their lives. The Islamic Speakers Bureau has launched an essay contest as part of our initiatives aimed at youth to inspire them to think about their future goals and create concrete plans to achieve them. The more they visualize the future, the more successful they are. 

Enter the Making a Difference Essay Contest for a chance to win $500! Simply write an essay about one of the 100 influential Georgia Muslims, your goals, and how you plan to achieve them.   The contest is open to all middle and high school students in Georgia.
