Meet Executive Board Member
Bettina O'Connell
|
We are excited to welcome Lake Bluff Finance Director Bettina O’Connell to IRMA’s Executive Board. As IRMA’s Chair of the Administration and Finance Committee, Bettina will also have a seat on the Executive Board. Bettina has a wealth of finance experience during her career, including Grayslake and Highland Park. She graduated cum laude from Columbia College of Missouri and earned her business degree in accounting and management. She is married with two sons, two step sons and three grandchildren. She spends her free time assisting a local nonprofit, exploring the Northwoods of Wisconsin and visiting family in Arizona and St. Louis. Prior to becoming Chair, Bettina served six (6) years on the AFC. We are happy to have her join IRMA’s leadership. |

Introducing Jennifer Alcala
New GL Senior Claims Representative
|
|
Jennifer Alcala joined IRMA in March as our new Senior Claims Representative. She will be responsible for handling our most complex general liability cases. Jennifer is an experienced claims professional and joins IRMA after nearly 10 years of handling high exposure litigated claims with AIG. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the role, and we look forward to working with her. Please join us in welcoming Jennifer. |

Sr. Loss Control Consultant Jenny Porrevecchio will present at the IRMA office following the business meeting. This program is a must for Public Works or Parks Department employees that are responsible for playground maintenance.

Benchmark Analytics
The Benchmark Analytics program has kicked off with the first round of meetings between Chiefs, Managers and IRMA staff. Chiefs who have participated, will share their perspective on the meetings. The 2024 legislative session is in full swing. Chief Maton will provide an update of pending legislation.

Peter Gillespie, managing attorney for Laner Muchins' OSHA Department, will be sharing how this incident will impact fire response. He will be presenting at the start of meeting, shortly after 9:30 a.m. via zoom.

This includes on-demand webinars, peer support training program, wellness policy templates and more. With PTSI on the rise, we encourage all departments to invest in their wellness initiatives. |

This new webpage is a 1-stop shop for PW Departments to gain access to IRMA resources, training plans, and third party risk management options to help satisfy any safety initiative.
The webpage also features an interactive map and PW Communication Board, providing members the networking opportunities to share information and coordinate with one another.
A special thank you goes out to the Public Works Steering Committee Officers and IRMA Liaison Frankie Giannetti for creating this essential tool for the membership.

New Grant Administration Policy |
|
The General Grant Guidelines were updated into the Grant Administration Policy. This policy, adopted at the March Board of Directors meeting, includes an update to grant eligibility requirements, new application deadlines, additional award priority measures, and Tier II+ application considerations.
