Is Your Building Inventory Accurate?
Report new, renovated, or no longer owned buildings to IRMA.
IRMA’s first party property coverage is reinsured by Travelers Insurance. It is important that Travelers and IRMA have a current list of all buildings that are owned by members. If IRMA and Travelers are not aware of a building that is owned by the Member it may create coverage issues. All new purchases and renovations to existing buildings should be reported to IRMA at the time of purchase or completion of renovation.

Workers' Compensation Injuries:
Exercise & Physical Fitness
There has been a recent spike in workers' compensation injuries related to exercise and physical fitness. This is a concerning trend. While promoting a healthy lifestyle among employees is beneficial, it's crucial for employers to balance it with safety measures.
Providing weights and equipment that exceed the lifting requirements of the employee's essential duties is unnecessary and can lead to a career-ending injury. Similarly, competitive sports, like basketball or pickle ball, should be prohibited due to increased risk of injury. Instead, encourage employees to focus on functional training that improves overall body movements that are consistent with what is necessary to maintain the essential job functions.
Encouraging physical activity is important, but it should be done in a way that prioritizes employee well-being and safety.

The internet allows businesses to reach new markets and provides the opportunity to work more efficiently with different tools. The theft of digital information has become more prevalent, and every business that uses the internet is responsible for creating a culture of security and IT Security should be part of the plan.

Importance of Contractual Risk Transfer
While some of us might find “Contractual Risk Transfer” to be a snoozer, it’s a very important part of risk management. To attempt to simplify the issue – you do not want to be legally responsible to pay damages for your private party vendor’s negligence.

Special Events and Festivals Risk Transfer
The season of special events and festivals brings with it an increased exposure to risks. The most common risks during this season include bodily injury to event attendees or participants or property damage to Village or others’ property.
