The IRIS Update - Fall 2023

IRIS v10 Rollout and Onboarding Timeline for 2024

After several years of development, user testing, feedback, and refinement, counties have now begun the process of transitioning from IRIS v9 to IRIS v10!

Through discussions and surveys with individual counties this fall, the IRIS team identified the first group, comprising seven counties, which are scheduled to onboard IRIS v10 between now and April 2024.

Group One counties and their onboarding windows are listed below:

  • Harney County: December 2023

  • Gilliam County: January 2024

  • Baker County: January 2024

  • Lake County: February 2024

  • Grant County: February 2024

  • Hood River County: March 2024

  • Jackson County: April 2024

Why Are We Releasing IRIS v10?

The primary reason we are releasing IRIS v10 is the technology it was built upon is now outdated and can no longer be fully supported or modified. As a result, issues within the system often cannot be fixed, leaving users to rely on workarounds. Additionally, IRIS v10 is a web-based application, which users will find more responsive and accessible compared to IRIS v9's desktop client.

Onboarding and Support Process

Prior to making the transition from IRIS v9 to IRIS v10, each county will be given a two-week testing window for users to interact with IRIS v10 in a "playground" environment while receiving support and training from the IRIS team.

The testing window is an opportunity for users to familiarize themselves with IRIS v10's new interface, as well as provide feedback and suggestions to the IRIS team. At the end of the testing window, counties can decide whether they are ready to make the permanent transition to IRIS v10, or if they would prefer, they can extend the testing window until they are ready to make the switch.

Group Two Onboarding Timeline

The anticipated Group Two onboarding window will begin in May 2024 and run through October 2024. We will begin reaching out to potential Group Two counties in February 2024 to determine which counties are interested in onboarding to IRIS v10 during this timeframe. If you are interested in your county joining Group Two or have questions about the onboarding process, please email ryde@oregoncounties.org.
