Learn More About The Ivoryton Inn 

HISTORY:

        The historic IVORYTON INN has been OPEN since 1841. It is located in Essex CT in the western ( Ivoryton) section.

         "IVORYTON" derives its name from "Ivory" taken from elephant's tusks, to make piano keys.       In the 1800's   "IVORY" from African elephant's tusks was imported into Ivoryton and used in the manufacture of

piano keys  ( "Ivories ").      The old piano factory is located just up the road.  

           IVORY traders and merchants from all over the world came to Ivoryton and stayed at the IVORYTON INN.

           The first Library in Ivoryton was located inside the Ivoryton INN.

            The wonderful Ivoryton Playhouse ( 100 years old ) is just around the corner.

 

Numerous famous Hollywood stars stayed at the IVORYTON INN while performing at the Ivoryton Playhouse.
