We’re only 10 days from Kabeyun’s Centennial Celebration!

As we prepare to welcome 300 people to camp, we have some information and requests, including a schedule of events and guidance on what to bring and what to leave behind.

Please share this email with everyone in your group.

You are receiving this email because you registered yourself and possibly others for Kabeyun's Centennial Celebration. Since we only have email addresses for the folks who interacted with our registration portal, we are counting on you to share this information with anyone else you signed up for the event! Thank you.

We will send a separate email to guests who are staying at Camp Brookwoods about those arrangements early next week.

ATTIRE

Casual clothes are encouraged at Kabeyun’s Centennial Celebration, including Saturday’s banquet. All guests will receive a special centennial T-shirt, which you are welcome to wear during the event. Please plan to dress for the weather, since much of this event will be outdoors, including sturdy, comfortable shoes for walking around camp. See below for other suggested items to bring.

PARKING & SHUTTLES

To preserve the in-camp atmosphere, guest parking will be on the Senior Ballfield, where staff members will assist you. If someone in your group has limited mobility, please email us so you can drive into camp to drop them off and then move your car to the Senior Ballfield. We also have a golf cart and lots of friendly staff members to assist guests with limited mobility.

We will run a shuttle service between Camp Brookwoods and Kabeyun. If you are staying at Brookwoods, please plan to use the shuttle rather than bringing your own car to Kabeyun. We will provide more details in the forthcoming email to Brookwoods guests.

CASHLESS EVENT

Guests will not need cash during Kabeyun’s centennial weekend. We will be accepting credit cards and checks for the purchase of Kabeyun books, hats, and sweatshirts, as well as for contributions to Kabeyun’s Second Century Campaign.

ALCOHOL

Kabeyun will serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks during the social hour and banquet. Please do not bring any additional alcohol.

NO PETS PLEASE

We’re sorry that we cannot welcome dogs or other pets at this event. If you require a service animal, please advise us by email.

AUDIO PROJECT

As part of Kabeyun’s centennial celebration, Christopher Biddle is collecting interviews and oral histories of camp. Chris is an audio storyteller and second-generation Kabeyun camper and former counselor who spent three days collecting audio from campers and counselors in August. You’ll find Chris roaming throughout camp (he’ll be the guy with the microphone!) as well as stationed at the Photo Shack from 1:30 – 3 p.m. on Saturday and 8:30 – 9:45 a.m. on Sunday. Please connect with him to share your Kabeyun stories!

WHAT TO PACK

You may want to pack a “day bag” for Saturday, including:

  • A bathing suit and towel if you’d like to swim after lunch
  • Warm layers for the evening
  • Rain gear (depending on the forecast)

  • rebuild our docks and tennis and badminton courts
  • support tuition assistance
  • invest in the health of our forest and shoreline

You can join more than 300 donors who've supported the Second Century Campaign so far!

Contributions of all amounts are meaningful!

Every donor will be recognized on a plaque in our dining hall.
