Legal Ease: More Federal Burdens On Employers

It should be beyond question that today's workplace is the most regulated space in our society. Government at all levels, from the federal to the local, routinely regulates some aspect of the employment relationship. These regulatory measures in many cases overlap in their coverage. The courts also contribute to the regulatory regimen through decisions that interpret and, at times, expand the law or rules they are called upon to apply. Some recent actions involving federal law provide ample proof of this regulatory reality. One, a decision by the Supreme Court, and the other, a significant rule change by the Department of Labor (DOL) affecting pay in every workplace in the country for years to come. Federal Burdens
