IMRF proudly thanks outgoing Employee Trustee, John Piechocinski, for his service to the Board of Trustees.
 
IMRF thanks outgoing Employee Trustee John Piechocinski
Piechocinski is retiring June 30, 2016, from the Plainfield Community Consolidated School District. Upon retirement, the law requires a Trustee to step down from the Employee Trustee position.

Piechocinski exits the Board after 5-1/2 years of service. During his tenure, Piechocinski served on multiple committees and held all three Board officer positions, most recently serving as Board President in 2015.

IMRF fully honors Employee Trustee John Piechocinski's service and contributions to IMRF in a special section of its website, www.imrf.org.
 
TwoGASB 68 Frequently Asked Questions available online
Established by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), GASB 68 was introduced to improve accounting and financial reporting on pensions by government entities. IMRF participating employers who report using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) are required to follow rules established by GASB.
 
To better assist employers with compliance, IMRF has compiled a list of frequently asked questions and answers. Employers may review these FAQs and additional GASB 68 reference material on the GASB 68 Resources page of IMRF's website, www.imrf.org.
ThreeTrustee Elections to be held this fall
In November, IMRF will conduct two Trustee elections:
  • Employers will elect one Executive Trustee for a five-year term. The five-year term will run from January 1, 2017, through December 31, 2021.
  • Members will elect one Employee Trustee for a four-year partial term. The four-year term will run from January 1, 2017, through December 31, 2020.
Nominating petitions will be accepted in IMRF's Oak Brook and Springfield offices between August 1, 2016, and September 15, 2016. Additional information on nominating procedures, qualifications, sample petitions, and a biographical questionnaire is available on the 2016 Board Elections page of IMRF's website, www.imrf.org.

The resignation of IMRF members on disability
Employers should advise any member receiving IMRF disability benefits to contact IMRF before resigning from employment. Doing so may help the member fully understand the impact resignation may have on his or her disability benefits.
