Rescued rabbits make the world a better place.
In 2015 they changed history.

Dear Friends of SaveABunny,

Do you believe that each rabbit deserves love, safety and the best possible care? We do.

In addition to rescuing adorable, healthy bunnies SaveABunny is very often the only place for the most wounded, traumatized, neglected and lonely rabbits. Providing healing is both heart-breaking and hopeful work.
It is also very expensive and our veterinary bills alone often exceed $3,000 per month. Our success rate in healing emotional and physical trauma in rabbits is internationally recognized.

We want to keep doing this work, and we hope you want that too. Our most urgent need is for regular monthly donors so that we can always be ready when the call comes for emergency rescues. Donations are tax-deductible. Please also think of us for your end-of year donations.  Donate Safely Online

Below you will see just a few examples of our rescue work in 2015. It was a challenging year of critically injured rabbits and the spearheading of advocacy efforts against the sale of domestic rabbit meat at Whole Foods. Winning the battle was a breakthrough in the recognition of rabbits as treasured family members.

Last Christmas Eve saw the emergency rescue of 6 critically wounded baby "meat" rabbits, including Rudy. A year later brings the emergency rescue of Emmeline, another "meat rabbit", who needed major surgery to remove botfly larvae deeply embedded and abscessed in her neck. She's a young, sweet, rabbit who is well on the road to recovery. She'll be available soon for adoption!

We remain deeply grateful for your compassion, generosity and support!

On behalf  of the bunnies,
Marcy Schaaf
SaveABunny Founder and Executive Director

P.S. We take care of the sad, hard part of rescue and make your wishes come true to save precious lives!

SaveABunny's special group of sanctuary and hospice bunnies share unconditional love, devotion and nurturing as they live out their lives surrounded by people and bunny buddies who adore them. The group fluctuates as the old timers cross the rainbow bridge, like brave Phoenix, nurturing Poodalia and amazing Tiny Von Gouda.

Despite surviving horrific abuse--- like Phoenix being set on fire, or living with chronic illness like Tej, these rabbits are the happiest, most accepting and loving rabbits we have  ever  met. Secret Agent Cool Whip, Ting and Clementine just joined the Late Bloomer Club and were welcomed with bunny kisses from Scooter, Grace, Oliver and Tej.

Please see our Amazon wishlist and shopping options as a terrific way to donate special supplies required for this incredible Late Bloomer Club. Donations to The Phoenix Fund also help us provide the extra medical care for these special needs bunnies.

"Meat rabbits" (same breed as rescue rabbits) made international headlines and national television (Conan O'Brian ). Whole Foods Market's large scale "rabbit growing" and butchering program, aimed at creating a demand for domestic rabbit meat, met fierce opposition from animal lovers all over the country.

SaveABunny was instrumental in creating Rabbit Advocacy Network (RAN)
a national alliance with House Rabbit Society, Bunny World Foundation, animal advocacy groups, leaders and individuals all over the country.  Protests, persistence and professionalism led to Whole Foods announcement to discontinue the sale of rabbit meat in January 2016. We want to thank the hundreds of volunteers across the country as well as our volunteers who made their voices heard. And we want to thank Whole Foods for doing the right thing.

This is what our work is all about!
