Dear League/Club Representative,

As you are aware, MSYSA recently updated our International Transfer Clearance Policy (ITC) to better reflect that of US Soccer and FIFA. All MSYSA direct member scheduling leagues, clubs and affiliated clubs are now required to have players 10 years of age and older who were born outside of the United States, or who have registered and played soccer outside of the U.S. and are now returning, obtain ITC before they are eligible to participate in league play. MSYSA acknowledges the extra effort that will be needed by club administrators and players’ families to be sure all players that require ITC are identified and cleared. For more detailed information on ITC, please visit the ITC page of the MSYSA website.

In an effort to make identification of those players that require International Clearance (ITC) as simple as possible, MSYSA will be enacting a new requirement for every player registered in the 2024/2025 seasonal year. Before a player will be approved on a team roster their parent/guardian will need to complete a one-time form. The form leads the parent/guardian through a series of questions that not only identify if that player will require an ITC but also helps narrow what kind of ITC process might be best for them to use.

Those players identified as not needing ITC will show as ‘Fulfilled’ under their Requirements in GotSport. Those players that are identified by the form as possibly needing an ITC will show as ‘Review’ under their requirements in GotSport. If a player is identified as needing ITC, the club they have a role with while completing the form will be notified by MSYSA staff. From there the club can assist the player’s family through the ITC process.

Once a player has completed their ITC process and been cleared by US Soccer, MSYSA staff will update the player’s account and their Requirement will read ‘Fulfilled’ and a blue ITC will appear next to their name in the Club Management > Players area of the platform. Note: Players who have previously received an approved ITC may not see their status updated to ‘Fulfilled’ right away. MSYSA staff is currently working to update player accounts with their previously obtained ITCs. If your club is unsure if a player has a previously approved ITC, please email itc@michiganyouthsoccer.org with the player’s name and date of birth.
