Food insecurity returns to high pre-pandemic levels with the end of supplemental FoodShare benefits

The number of requests for food resources continues to increase since the end of financial support programs established during the pandemic. Supplemental FoodShare benefits were eliminated in March 2023.

In 2022, IMPACT 211 responded to 12,509 requests for food resources, which accounted for 9.5% of all calls that year. By comparison, IMPACT 211 received 21,436 food requests over the past twelve months representing 16% of total calls. Of those who called for food assistance, 95% received a food pantry referral.

Note: calls may involve more than one request
