Letter from the President: Ted Moravec, CPIM
|
|
, We are about to enter in to election season. No, not the one with 83 people who think they should be president of the United States. The one for the IMA Board of Directors. While it may not carry the same weight as the one dominating the media, it is vitally important to our association. One thing that is important about IMA elections is that every person who has stepped forward to run for the board is fully qualified and you can be confident that their election will be positive for all of us.
I'd like to thank our Past-President John Hornbogen who has chaired the nominations committee for putting the slate together for this year. Most of all I'd like to thank those members who submitted their names for consideration by the committee. As we say over and over, the IMA is a voluntary association with a lot of opportunity to get involved at many different levels. Running for the Board is the most powerful way you can impact your association.
More information regarding the IMA Board of Directors election will be sent to IMA primary members later this week. Please make sure you take the few minutes required to cast your ballot.
The new Board and officers will be announced in Chicago at the 2019 IMA Summit.
The Summit - as a person who has lived most of my life in Chicago, I can't wait to welcome all of you to this great and beautiful city. July is a fantastic time to be in Chicago, particularly our location downtown. The IMA Summit will take place near Lake Michigan, the amazing Chicago River promenades, Millennium Park with the famous "Bean" that is featured on our Summit logo and Navy Pier. We will in the center of Chicago's incredible architecture and have access to all of the world class shopping you can ever want.
To take advantage of all of this and to immerse yourself in the full experience of attending the Summit I strongly suggest that you book your room at our conference hotel, the Loews. This is a beautiful property, great location central to all there is to enjoy and a very attractive room rate for peak season.
Registration is open so please register and book your room at The Loews.
Lastly, congratulation to our IMRA SIG for another terrific Marketing Conference held in April in Scottsdale, Arizona. We also want to recognize the IMA Middle East & Africa Chapter in formation for their first and very well attended Summit held in early May in Dubai.
Best wishes to all,
Ted Moravec
President

IMRA 2019 Marketing Conference Recap
|
|
IMRA's 2019 Marketing Conference was a great week of networking, sales meetings, and education. Attendance was up and evaluations indicate that attendees felt that they received a lot of value from the general sessions, sales meetings and networking events!
Over 75% of respondents said they met four or more new people! Part of the reason for that is the new Brand Showcase. IMRA offers new brands the opportunity to attend and learn if they are a fit for the market. This is an exciting way to introduce new brands to our industry and to help them succeed in our industry.
The Town Hall meeting is always both educational and fun! Delegates also received an update regarding the IMRA and IMA corporate outreach activities. Corporate outreach is at the core of IMA's mission and it is important that we all recognize the importance of these activities.
