Letter from the President: Ted Moravec, CPIM
|
|
,
The past several months I have used this letter to keep you apprised of the progress we have made in aligning our actions with our Mission Statement. These activities have focused almost entirely on projects, committees, the four Strategic Industry groups (SIGs) and our partnerships in the United States. I thought I'd shift gears this month and talk about the work of our International Chapters.
Our first chapter, IMA Europe, was created in April of 2016 when it became apparent that the existing SIG structure was not serving our European members. Out of these discussions our bylaws were amended to allow for the creation of Chapters to represent members outside of North America. These Chapters are able to reach a large number of IMA members who are engaged and committed to the formation of a Chapter. IMA Chapter rules require that before a Chapter can be created, it must adhere to IMA Chapter Guidelines and reach 20 paid company memberships. While IMA SIGs provide focused groups by market segment, Chapters are for members in specific geographic regions and include participants from all areas of the industry.
As you have read over the past few years in Fast Take and have seen at Summit, IMA Europe is a robust organization. The driving force was Brian Dunne who passed the leadership torch to the current president, Jonathan Grey and the other IMA Europe board members. They have expanded from a primary focus in the UK and Ireland to reach out across Europe to grow IMA. You only need to look at their list of quarterly meeting sites to understand the significance of their efforts.
This month I want to introduce you to our newest Chapter which is in the final stages of forming. IMA Middle East & Africa (IMA MEA) is centered around a committed group of incentive professionals working in the Middle East and Africa. Their first meeting will take place in the dynamic global city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on May 1. Conversation began at the 2018 Summit with Julie Leblan, who was assisted by Brian Dunne and Fintan Connelly in bringing the concept of a Middle East/Africa Chapter to IMA leadership. With a considerable boost from IMA Europe, incentive professionals in this growing market are in the process of building the essential numbers necessary to form a Chapter.
An
IMA MEA website
is up and running where you can find details on the IMA MEA Summit. More information about our IMA MEA Chapter will be presented at this year's IMA Summit.
We also have strong interest in Brazil to form a Chapter. As many of you know, we have had great success in presenting the Incentive Professional course to practitioners in Brazil in the past couple of years. The result has been 56 IP designations awarded. Our members from Brazil are working to lay the groundwork for the creation of a Chapter. My hope is that occurs within the next twelve months.
As always, the Board and Executive Committee welcomes your comments and participation. Don't forget, registration for the 2019 IMA Summit in Chicago is also now open.
Thanks for your commitment to help us fulfill the IMA Mission Statement.

IMA Summit 2019 - Partnering with The Y & Sign up to Volunteer
|
|
Each year, IMA supports a charity local to the IMA Summit and provides opportunities for membership to engage through fundraising activities and IMA Summit session activities. This year, with membership feedback, we've chosen to partner with YMCA of Metro Chicago (The Y).
The Y provides the support and opportunities that empower people and communities to learn, grow and thrive. With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y nurtures the potential of every youth and teen, improves the nation's health and well-being and provides opportunities to give back and support neighbors.
|
There will be three components to supporting the Y:
- Donations of cash, gift cards, and merchandise
- Interactive session during the IMA Summit
- Supply building activity during the IMA Summit

Volunteer
We need you, yes YOU! Help out your favorite association and volunteer at the 2019 IMA Summit. Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the entire conference and in different time increments to fit your schedule.
Are you arriving in Chicago on Sunday? Come hang out and help staff and fellow attendees with gift bag assembly on Sunday before the conference is in full swing.
Want to greet your fellow attendees as they arrive? Pick up an hour, or several, at the registration desk!

IESP's Latest Blog: 3 Leading Indicators of Sales Incentive Success
|
|
The Incentive Engagement & Solution Providers released a new blog post last month.
3 Leading Indicators of Sales Incentive Success
Incentives sales is a lagging indicator. Tracking incentive sales only reflects what's already been done. It's like getting the final score of a football game after it has been played. It's already too late to do anything to change the outcome.
The Incentive Engagement & Solution Providers (IESP) delivers valuable resources, including its recent additional strategy of blogging. Posting blogs helps inform essential ways professionals can strategize and operate in a to-the-point, easy-to-read fashion.

IMEX America 2019 - Share a Booth with IMA
|
|
IMEX America | September 10-12, 2019 | Las Vegas, NV
IMEX America 2019 planning is underway. It will take place this upcoming September!
IMA is offering to share its booth with interested IMA members. Register by May 1 to receive the early rate of $7,500. Each year IMA and the companies who share our booth find great success at this event.
Last year over 13,500 visitors attended the IMEX America conference. Our booth partners were able to pre-schedule one-on-one appointments with potential buyers and there were a number of people that stopped by without appointments.
The IMA staff supported booth partners to ensure they took full advantage of the promotional opportunities associated with exhibiting at IMEX.
If you are interested in participating in a booth with IMA, please email IMA's Executive Director, Karen Wesloh.

We need volunteers for Chicago! Volunteering is a great way to connect and network during the conference. It allows great conversation starters and presents the opportunity to inform others on IMA's values, including our resources, research initiatives, education and online tools, and shows how you as a member stands out in the incentive industry.
Please contact
Karen Wesloh if you are interested in volunteering in the booth or as an industry expert at the Chicago show.
IMA will present
three sessions at all ASI shows in 2019. These sessions are:
Corporate Gifts 101: Expanding Your Business with Corporate Gifts
Corporate Gifts 201: What Corporate Gift Suppliers Can Do For You
Corporate Gifts 301: How Distributors are Profiting from Corporate Gifts
