Principal Message

Welcome back to the 2024-25 school year!

It is a joy to have your students begin this new year with us and we can't wait to work with them.

This year, school start and end times remain the same, but you will notice in the bell schedule a 30 minute period on Mondays that has been added to support students' success. Students will practice skills for ensuring they are preparing for the week by reading and responding to their school email, monitoring their google classroom, signing up for a Wednesday and Thursday student support period (aka Tutorial) that will best help them academically. We call these "Monday Must Dos". This is a very important aspect of student responsibility and accountability that we want to ensure every student is practicing and we appreciate your support in reinforcing it.

I look forward to telling you more at Back to School Night on August 22nd!

Ms Norris

District Updates

NEW Technology Information

This school year, aligned with our lost/damaged textbook policy, students/families will be held financially responsible for the repair/replacement cost for physical damage to a device, or the loss of a device, whether accidental or purposeful. Families are not responsible for normal wear and tear of devices. For any families who encounter a situation where their student’s device has been physically damaged or lost, who are concerned about this being a financial burden, they should speak directly with their school. We encourage you to review this Technology One-Pager for more information and links to additional resources.

Meal Program

SRVUSD’s meal program will continue to provide meals to all students at no cost for the 2024-25 school year! For more information see the district website HERE or reach out to Child Nutrition at SRVUSDEats@srvusd.net.

8th Grade East Coast Trip

Iron Horse 8th Grade Parents,

We still have some spaces remaining on our Spring Break, 2025 trip (April 4 - 10, 2025) to Washington D.C., Gettysburg, Philadelphia and New York City for interested 8th grade students (and parent chaperones) to join our group. It is an amazing experience and I highly recommend all interested families to attend!! If you have not yet registered and would like to learn more about the trip, we will be hosting a zoom parent informational meeting on Tuesday, August 27th @ 7:30pm. Here is a link to that meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81747459513

We’d love for all interested families to attend but you do not need to attend in order to register (**if you have already registered for the trip, please do not attend as there will be no new information at this meeting**). If you have any questions prior to the zoom meeting, or would like an information packet sent to your email, please contact Sandra Slye-Hittle (trip coordinator) at sandra.hittle@gmail.com or our tour company representative, Yuval Bauman, at yuval@apple-tours.com Thank you!

Reflections Art Program

Does your child like to create? Do they love making art using different materials, equipment or with their body? If so, PTA’s Reflections Art Program will be the perfect project for them this summer!

Reflections provides an opportunity for students to express themselves creatively and to receive recognition for original works of art. Because they don’t need to submit their creations to your school’s PTA until this fall, they can use the summer to plan and create their masterpiece that will express this year’s theme: "Accepting Imperfection."

They can show their creativity in any of the following categories:

  • Dance Choreography
  • Film Production
  • Literature
  • Music Composition
  • Photography
  • Visual Arts

For more information on the Reflections Art Program and participation rules, please go to SRVCPTA’s Reflections Webpage, or contact the Council Reflections Chair at reflections@srvcouncilpta.org.
