July 2023

The International Federation on Ageing’s 16th Global Conference took place in Bangkok, Thailand. The conference focused on five key themes that are crucial for addressing the needs and challenges of an aging population.

Firstly, age-friendly environments were highlighted, emphasizing the importance of creating spaces that promote inclusivity and support the well-being of older adults. Secondly, the conference explored the role of digital technologies and their practical applications in improving the lives of older individuals. Thirdly, maintaining and improving function was emphasized, addressing strategies for optimizing physical and cognitive abilities as people age. The conference also highlighted the significance of immunization for all ages, with a particular focus on older adults. Lastly, there was a dedicated focus on the unique needs and experiences of older women, recognizing the importance of gender-specific approaches to aging.

Looking ahead, the IFA is gearing up for the 17th Global Conference on Ageing, scheduled to be held in 2025. This upcoming conference will provide a platform for experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to convene and discuss innovative approaches to aging. It will build upon the progress made in previous conferences and will likely feature themes that reflect the evolving needs and challenges of aging populations. The 2025 conference will serve as an opportunity to explore new strategies, exchange knowledge, and develop collaborative solutions that promote healthy aging and well-being on a global scale.

The International Federation on Ageing would like to say THANK YOU to all the delegates, speakers, sponsors and partners who made the 16th Global Conference on Ageing a big success.

See you in the next conference in 2025!
