New Resource: Carbon Offsetting for Events
Carbon offsetting can hold your event accountable, particularly in areas where emissions are unavoidable or reduction options are limited. CEE launched a new online resource that provides information on the benefits of carbon offsetting, types of projects, and ways to get started.
Tips for Carbon Offsetting at Your Event
- Use offsetting as a supplement to your ongoing sustainability efforts.
- Get started by assessing your event and pinpointing the primary emission sources like waste, transportation, and energy use.
- Align your event with a verified carbon offset project or provider that shares your event’s values and objectives.
- Visit our CEE Sustainability Hub for recommendations, along with additional resources.
- Openly share how and why you’re offsetting your carbon emissions to help boost your event's credibility and motivate others to follow suit.

Ready to explore carbon offsetting? Visit the IEEE Event Sustainability Hub for knowledge and resources that will guide you on your journey.
Last Call for 2024 Conference Applications |
Planning to sponsor a conference in the second half of 2024 but haven’t completed a conference application? Time is running out to register it with IEEE!
As recommended in IEEE Policy 10, OUs and Organizers should aim to have their conference applications submitted and approved 12 months prior to the event. This allows stakeholders to review, evaluate, and approve applications before the organization of the event begins in earnest. It also allows the conference to obtain the benefits of affiliation with IEEE, including inclusion in the IEEE Conference Search. Applications that arrive too close to the event date may be declined due to insufficient time to conduct and complete this process.
Have questions or need support? The CEE Team is here to help!

Net Zero Carbon Events (NZCE) Study: Optimizing Event Travel for Sustainability
NZCE has released findings from a two-year study focusing on travel optimization within the events industry, highlighting the significance of in-person meetings and face-to-face interactions, especially in the post-pandemic era. The study highlights how large events have the potential to lessen travel while also benefiting the environment. In order to accomplish sustainable goals and advance the events industry, NCZE plans to build on these findings in the future by obtaining more data, increasing participant involvement, and implementing substantial change.

Application Status Tool Features
The new tool offers several useful features:
- A user-friendly search functionality
- A visual of key process milestones & where the application is in the process
- Context of steps completed & yet to be completed
- Status explanation of what is happening and who to contact with questions
- Single Sign On
| | |
Organizers will be able to track the status of their applications until shortly after they reach the decision phase. Approved conferences will then be listed in the IEEE Conference Search.
