IECMHC Connector - June 2020

We cannot be silent.

We support the local, national and global efforts underway to address systemic racism, disparity and inequality. The impact of institutional racism and other forms of bias shapes the experiences and opportunities of young Black children and families, as well as those from other marginalized communities. This inequity takes a toll on social-emotional development from an early age. Mental health consultants work to promote resilience in young children by investing in the adults who care for them, based on an understanding of culture, race and inequality.

Our Center of Excellence is committed to promoting equity through:

•           Critically examining equity in our internal processes and products;
•           Prioritizing resources explicitly focused on consultant capacity to address inequity and have difficult conversations;
•           Drafting actionable recommendations for consultants and consultation programs that address racism and biases
