Celebrating the Latinx/Hispanic Community!

This month, IDEA News and Updates is dedicated to the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, where we not only celebrate the diversity among the Hispanic and Latinx culture. Throughout this month, we will acknowledge, honor and uplift the voices of the Latinx/Hispanic community as they share their insights and perspectives with us, across the fundraising sector and beyond.
We encourage you to celebrate with us by hearing directly from our AFP and fundraising colleagues about their experience in the field, as a self-identified member of the Latinx/Hispanic community.

As AFP President and CEO, Mike Geiger states, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access is personal and it impacts every single one of us. Together, we can listen and learn from each other to create the change we want to see for ourselves, workplaces, and communities.

We are #OneAFP.

To learn more about being Hispanic and Latinx in the United States, we also recommend watching Fernanda Ponce’s TED Talk at TEDxDeerfield.

This year, AFP-GLAC will host its annual conference A Brave New World of Fundraising on Friday, November 5, 2021, and the IDEA Committee will hold a session discussion on Privilege, Access, and Power: How Funders Can Lead the Charge to Advance IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access).

In this session, Punita Khanna, Director of Community Relations at Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research, and Jai Phillips, Program Officer of Youth Development at the California Community Foundation, will engage in a dynamic conversation about how grantmaking can operate through an equity lens to strategically distribute resources and strengthen communities. You’ll learn what role nonprofits can play in the funding process and what steps organizations can take to empower themselves with the tools and relationships needed to navigate the path to success.

Please join us and register for the conference today!
