Navigating the Nonprofit Sector as a Racial, Ethnic & Gender Minority
Tuesday, March 23, 2021

The IDEA Committee will be hosting its first IDEA virtual program on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 on Navigating the Nonprofit Sector as a Racial, Ethnic & Gender Minority. We hope you will join us for a thought provoking, vulnerable, and timely discussion.

Celebrating Black History:

Each year, February marks Black History Month across the United States, where we celebrate the contributions, achievements, and voices of the Black community. We invite you to celebrate with us by engaging in your own continuing education, research, and reflection on Black history.

Although there is much more work to be done in the pursuit of racial equity, we hope our increasing awareness is only just a start to truly honor and acknowledge the Black community not only during the month of February, but throughout the entire year.

For those interested in some excellent articles, here’s some of our picks:

Observing the Lunar New Year:

During the month of February, we also acknowledged the Lunar New Year on February 12th. Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is China's most important festival. This year welcomes the Year of the Ox and is a time for families to be together and a week of an official public holiday.

With the growing offenses and acts of violence against the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, it’s important to see how these recent occurrences hit a common cord with the deep-rooted injustices experienced by the Black community, which are rooted in injustice, inequity and systemic oppression.

We invite you to stand in solidarity with us and all diverse community groups to ensure that all have equal and safeguarded opportunities to live, work, and thrive.
As fundraising professionals, we can lead the charge as we engage donors and collaborate with funders to support these communities, as well as hold space and grace for our colleagues in the nonprofit sector who identify with these groups. We are #OneAFP.
