Senior Capstones are Underway!

Each year the candidates for graduation from the Industrial and Innovative Design major at the ICC, taught in partnership with Cedarville University, present the culmination of their acquired knowledge and skills in a problem-solving exercise called the Senior Capstones.

The three days of presentations began today, and you still have time to come and experience these inspiring and insightful projects in person if you are in the area. Please visit the link below to learn more about the projects and for a master schedule of presentations. This same page will host summary recordings of the presentations at a later time.

Congratulations seniors on making it to Capstone week!

The Industrial and Innovation Design major, taught in partnership with Cedarville University, is just part of the ICC's mission to be a globally recognized leader in innovation education. The ICC has also authored and delivers innovation-specific curriculum in partnership with The Graduate School at Cedarville University.

ICC partnered with the M.B.A. program in the Plaster School of Business at Cedarville University to launch a concentration in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which is in its fourth year.

For the Fall of 2022, the ICC is launching a stand-alone Master of Innovation, also in partnership with the Plaster School of Business.

"These programs are for early adopters who understand the rapid proliferation of innovation practice and its key role in the future success of corporations," said Jim Stevenson, ICC President and Co-founder. "In a recent McKinsey study of top CEO's, over 80% specifically stated that innovation will have to be a part of their organizations' growth and competitiveness."

"Innovation is an abused buzzword, but we are taking the pop culture approach out of the discipline and delivering a practical, impactful and relevant curricular program that will transform individuals and organizations," Stevenson added.

In the summer of 2022, the ICC also launched a digital badge program through Credly to offer industry-specific continuing education content to enhance the career preparedness of its students.

Meet Rachel Stober:

You would be hard pressed to find a young designer with more caring and empathy for people than Rachel Stober, Class of 2022. Having grown up in a very diverse collection of cultures around the world, Rachel lives out the "human" part of human-centered design.

She even took the opportunity to serve others with her senior capstone project, which was a complete interior design concept of a bakery and cafe for a real non-profit that provides hope and training for women recovering from trafficking.

After graduation Rachel was hired on as an Interior Design Coordinator for KP Designs and Associates, a central-Ohio based, award-winning design firm based in Columbus, Ohio.

ICC Co-Founder Earns Design Thinking Certificate

Tom Balliett wears a lot of hats at the ICC including Chief Financial Officer and instructor. He's even the school's resident paramedic, but thankfully that job isn't called on very often! But one of Balliett's passions is the creative development process, or Design Thinking. This past spring, Tom applied and was accepted into the Harvard Business School Certificate Program in Design Thinking which he just successfully completed last week.

The program is known for its quality of instructors, highly relevant case studies and for its rigorous project work. Congratulations to Tom for adding another credential to your already-deep lineup.
