ICC Students Present at Chick-fil-A Corporate

Four seniors from the International Center for Creativity recently traveled to the corporate headquarters of Chick-fil-A in Atlanta, Georgia, to present their design solutions from a sponsored course project earlier in the semester.

This is the fifth sponsored course design project between the ICC and the quick-serve restaurant giant in as many years.

"Our contacts at Chick-fil-A are incredibly kind, focused, generous, and genuinely believe in our educational experience," said ICC president and co-founder, Jim Stevenson. "The challenges and projects that they create for our students are real-time, real-world, incredibly relevant and we're honored that they continue to affirm and invest in our students and their work. Their feedback and guidance for every project we have done has truly enriched students' lives."

Four ICC grads have gone on to work inside of Chick-fil-A's corporate operations in innovation, industrial design and architectural space design.

Now Accepting Sponsored Projects

The ICC is now accepting corporate sponsored projects for senior capstones in the spring 2023 and we have a few opportunities remaining for class projects in fall of 2023. Projects have ranged from packaging innovations to blue-sky mobility solutions, to vehicle concepts, and architectural projects for churches, restaurants, museums and retail locations.

"Our corporate partners have gained real ideas, insights and designs from our students and each year we expand our list of corporate partners. It provides the students with valuable experience, but it also gives hiring managers a deeper look at up-and-coming talent," said Tom Balliett, ICC Co-founder, CFO, Business Operations and Instructor.

The Industrial and Innovation Design major, taught in partnership with Cedarville University, is just part of the ICC's mission to be a globally recognized leader in innovation education. The ICC has also authored and delivers innovation-specific curriculum in partnership with The Graduate School at Cedarville University.

ICC partnered with the M.B.A. program in the Plaster School of Business at Cedarville University to launch a concentration in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which is in its fourth year.

For the Fall of 2022, the ICC is launching a stand-alone Master of Innovation, also in partnership with the Plaster School of Business.

"These programs are for early adopters who understand the rapid proliferation of innovation practice and its key role in the future success of corporations," said Jim Stevenson, ICC President and Co-founder. "In a recent McKinsey study of top CEO's, over 80% specifically stated that innovation will have to be a part of their organizations' growth and competitiveness."

"Innovation is an abused buzzword, but we are taking the pop culture approach out of the discipline and delivering a practical, impactful and relevant curricular program that will transform individuals and organizations," Stevenson added.

In the summer of 2022, the ICC also launched a digital badge program through Credly to offer industry-specific continuing education content to enhance the career preparedness of its students.

ICC @ Work

Graduating in the spring of 2020 was a massive challenge even for the most talented and driven students, but hard work can pay off as displayed by Luke Henig's recent staff appointment to Associate Industrial Designer at TTi's Floorcare division and specifically the Hoover, Dirt Devil and Oreck brands in Charlotte, North Carolina.

About six months after graduating Luke landed an industrial design position at the Scott Group Studio doing industrial design work for manufacturing processes, AutoCAD digital drawings, color/material/finish (CMF) selection, and more for luxury private aviation interiors.

He then joined TTi as an industrial design intern working on the Hart and RIGID brands developing new products and doing digital sketching, Solidworks modeling, Keyshot enders and more.

Henig is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.
