India Day 2017 Marks 70th Anniversary of India's Independence
India Association of Greater Boston prepares to celebrate the 70th anniversary of India's Independence by hosting India Day, its annual celebration of the special day. “Unity in Diversity” is the theme of India Day 2017, which will be held on Sunday, August 20, at the Hatch Memorial Shell in Boston. As always, guests can expect to enjoy cultural performances of music and dance, check out a variety of vendors, learn about community programs and, of course, enjoy the cuisine!

We invite all regional organizations in the area to participate in India Day 2017 with their folk songs and dances. Submit your entries via our program registration form and base your performances on our theme of "Unity in Diversity."

IAGB's Joint Presentation of Hindi Play Is a Hit
IAGB and  New England Leherein  jointly presented "...Chale Hans ki Chal," a Hindi family drama and delightful comedy on May 13 at Littleton High School in Littleton, MA. The play was preceded by a complimentary reception for guests.

This is the second year in a row that IAGB has presented a play: It was a suspense last year and a comedy this year. Both productions were well received by audiences.

Governor Baker Nominates Judge Singh to MA Appeals Court
Governor Charlie Baker has nominated Judge Sabita Singh to serve as a justice on the Massachusetts Appeals Court. Her confirmation hearing before the Governor's Council will take place at 11 am on Wednesday, June 14, at the State House, 24 Beacon Street, Boston, MA 02133.

All are welcome to attend the public hearing.
Convert PIO Cards into OCI Cards at CGI, NY 
The Consulate General of India in New York requests PIO card holders under its jurisdiction to urgently convert their PIO cards into OCI cards before the expiry of the June 30 deadline for the conversion process.

Brahma Kumaris Host Motivational Speaker: July 4
Brahma Kumaris Learning Center for Peace informs us that motivational speaker Sister Shivani is visiting the United States this summer and travelling to different cities, giving talks and programs. Her talk in the Boston area is entitled “Awakening: Inner Happiness and Freedom.” It will be held on Tuesday, July 4, from 3:30 pm - 6 pm at Ambrosia Weddings & Events, 2 Washington Street, Foxborough, MA 02035.
