Dear Friends and Neighbors,

On Friday, May 31, we will gather at noon at Greenwich Town Hall to proclaim June 2 as Gun Violence Awareness Day.

Each year, in the beginning of June, we wear orange to honor the lives lost to gun violence. By doing so, we recommit ourselves to bringing about change through the passage of common sense gun violence prevention laws that will keep our communities safe.

In 2023, I was proud to co-sponsor An Act Addressing Gun Violence, comprehensive legislation to improve gun safety. That bill:
  • Improves safe storage requirements
  • Requires the registration of all ghost guns
  • Expands the list of firearms and accessories that are too deadly for civilian use
  • Bans open carry - the intentional display of firearms in public
  • Increases bail, probation and parole responses for an extremely limited group of individuals with repeated serious firearm offenses

I also voted in favor of legislation strengthening risk protection orders for people who possess weapons and are at risk of injuring themselves or others.

In this year's legislative session, I voted in favor of a bill strengthening background checks, by ensuring that the government has the juvenile records of anyone trying to purchase a firearm who is under the age of twenty-one.

While Connecticut has some of the strongest gun violence prevention laws in the country, and received an A rating by the Giffords Law Center last year, the work is not done. I am proud of what we have accomplished and remain a committed advocate for gun violence prevention.

I need your help to continue that work! Please sign up here to volunteer to help on my campaign. If you’d like to make a financial donation to my re-election campaign, you can do so here.

Thank you for your continued confidence and support!

Sincerely,
