Dear Mark,
Everyone came back from spring break with a renewed energy to start the fourth and last nine-weeks to finish the year strong. The third nine-week's report cards will be accessible on Skyward on Tuesday, April 2nd. Please continue to monitor your student's academic progress. Contact the teachers with any questions or concerns.
Eagle Parents! We are looking forward to seeing you at the HCMS LongHorn Steakhouse Spirit Night on Wednesday, April 3rd, from 5:00 pm to 9:00pm. Don’t forget to bring with you a copy of the Dinning for Dollars coupon!
The upcoming eight weeks are packed with many different events and activities such as performances, track meets, recognitions and celebrations. Don’t miss our HCMS Spring Book Fair which will take place from April 10th until April 19th. Also, mark your calendars for our annual Multicultural Night on Thursday April 11th at 6:00pm in the gym. Please see the details below.

Eugene Weaver for Exemplifying Perseverance: Eugene is showing great effort to improve his grades. He is trying to complete the assignments, participating in class and getting better grades! -Ms. Calderon
Keerthivasan Praveen Kumar for Excellence: He is an amazing student, does his assignments on time, helps other students as well. He is very respectful and I am glad to have him in my class. -Ms. Gramiscelli
Zoe Avalos for Excellence: Zoe is an incredible student who is always eager to participate, learn, and help others. She constantly takes the lead in group work and her work is always impeccable. Zoe also has a very happy and helpful personality, which is always welcome. She is an absolute pleasure to have in class, and she has a very bright future. -Mr. Onderick
Jarri Andrade for Leadership: Jarri is nominated for student of the week for demonstrating leadership. During these difficult times at HCMS these past two weeks, Jarri has been a light of inspiration for the students and staff. He showed his leadership at our school's vigil for Maddie and had such courage and strength to share his emotions. Thank you for being a light to us all, Jarri! -Mrs. Lebron
Joao Do Carmo Lira for Giving Respect: Joao has been a wonderful student this year! I have especially seen positive changes this quarter and appreciate the effort he has been showing. He's trying hard to stay on top of all of his work, he's helped out in class, and he's always kind, caring, and respectful. Keep up the good work! -Ms. DeLuca
Isabella Queiroz for Soaring to Greatness: I have loved getting to teach Isabella this year! I especially appreciate all of the effort and improvement she has shown this quarter. She has been working hard on her assignment in class, shares great points during discussions, and has been friendly and respectful to her classmates and teachers. Keep being wonderful! -Ms. DeLuca
Erick Vispo for Giving Respect: Erick has been such a pleasure to get to teach all year! I appreciate how kind and respectful he is to all of his classmates and teachers and that he always has a smile on his face. He has also been showing improvement in classwork this quarter and I love seeing him put in that extra effort to be successful. Great job! -Ms. DeLuca

Kern Grimshaw for Exemplifying Perseverance: Kern is nominated for student of the week for exemplifying perseverance! He has made such great gains in Algebra this past semester and I am so proud of his hard work. He is always collaborating in class with her peers and loves to participate in whole group discussions! Deborah Soto-Martin for Exemplifying Perseverance: I am so proud to nominate Deborah for this award! She is the true definition of hard work and tenacity! She works so hard in class and asks for help when she needs it! She never gives up and it shows! She was my ONLY student to earn a perfect score on her Probability Quiz! Luis Sirias Morales for Exemplifying Perseverance: I would like to nominate Luis Sirias Morales as my student of the week because he worked hard this quarter to maintain a good grade. He turned in all of his assignments in on time, which was a big improvement from the last quarter. I appreciate his effort in my class, and I hope to see it continue in the fourth quarter. Maria Casas Gudino for Excellence: Maria is always on task, respectful, and demonstrating mastery of content in her honors science course. I have had the pleasure of teaching Maria for two years and it is exciting to watch her do so well. Continue the good work, Maria! -Ms. Bullock

We are so proud of our FPS competitors for a successful Florida Affiliate/State Future Problem Solver Competition! No matter their place, they qualified for States and worked so hard to be there which shows the type of amazing students and people they are. 💓

Chorus Music Performance Assessment | |
It was our Boys’ Chorus first time going since 2019, and they earned an Overall Excellent with a Superior in Sight reading! This means they earned a Superior on stage plus two Excellents and then a Superior in sight reading. | |

Eagle Singers earned an Overall Superior with a Superior in Sight reading! This means they earned 2 Superiors, an Excellent and a Superior in sight reading!!! These are our first Superior ratings since 2018!
SUPERIOR – The rating is comparable to the grade of “A”. This rating reflects the finest conceivable performance for the event and class of participants being evaluated – worthy of the distinction of being recognized as among the very best.

Ms. Bevard’s geometry class utilized their understanding of tangents and chords to create circles in the courtyard. They then decorated their circle however they wanted to.

Student Literacy Leaders with Ms. Moye
Ms. Moye’s 5th period Student Literacy Leaders, led by Leticia Ribeiro, created a “HCMS Students' Favorite Books Destiny Collection and display in the library using the books that were nominated for HCMS Favorite Book of the Year during Literacy Week.

Monthly, we honor our students who took part in the Beanstack reading challenge by giving them a HERO point. Those who went above and beyond, reading over 600 minutes in the month!, are given 2 HERO points AND a prize from one of our Partners in Education. Thank you to Dezerland Park for the prizes given to our January and February top readers!

Summer Four-Day Work Weeks to Expand for Summer 2024
Four-day workweeks will return to the district this summer, but will be expanded to include three additional weeks. All district offices and schools will be closed Fridays beginning May 31, 2024 through July 26, 2024.
● 10-hour days will begin Thursday, May 30 and end Wednesday, July 31.
● Schools will be open 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily during this time.
As a reminder, all schools will be closed the entire week of July 1-5, 2024.
