Support Our 365 Campaign

Fighting food insecurity every day of the year!

Each week, we see hundreds of families drive through our food distribution line. The faces change as circumstances evolve, but one thing remains constant - hunger doesn't take a day off. That is why we are launching our 365 campaign.

The high cost of living, coupled with the economic downturn and inflation is squeezing families like never before. Today, one in four people experience food insecurity right in our own backyard. This is where we come in. We provide a weekly supply of vegetables, fruit, protein and bread to food insecure individuals and families 365 days a year to make sure no one struggles to put food on their table.

Basic nutrition is vital and support from the community makes it possible for us to provide food to so many. Just a donation of a $1 per day provides nearly 200 nutritious meals to help families meet their basic needs.

There are many ways you can support our 365 campaign:

  • DONATE - Every dollar you donate will be matched up to $50,000 through generous matching gifts made by the Toeniskoetter Family Foundation and GreenWaste.
  • JOIN OUR SUPPER CLUB - Members make a recurring donation and become dependable partners in helping us end food insecurity everyday.
  • VOLUNTEER - We rely on the support of volunteers to help distribute and sort food.  Sign up today.
  • SPREAD THE WORD - Tell your family and friends about the needs of our community and encourage them to get involved in our efforts.

Hunger at Home and DoorDash recently celebrated a major milestone, completing an estimated 70,000 meals powered by DoorDash's Project DASH. With funding from the City of San Jose, the program delivers food right to the front doors of individuals and families struggling with food insecurity in San Jose. Nutritious prepared meals and groceries are dropped off four times a week by a Dasher delivery driver. The program ensures no one in our community goes hungry, including those who are homebound or cannot participate in drive-through food distribution programs.

The milestone was marked with a celebration at PayPal Park. Representatives from Hunger at Home, DoorDash, the City of San Jose, and San Jose Earthquakes were on hand for the celebration. San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan spoke about the impact of the innovative partnership on combating hunger at the local level. The Mayor and former Earthquake’s soccer player, Shea Salinas loaded the 70,000th meal in the car of the Dasher driver in celebration of reaching this major milestone.

"At Hunger at Home, we are incredibly grateful to broaden food access alongside our partner DoorDash," said Ewell Sterner, Chief Executive Officer, Hunger at Home. "By leveraging Project DASH, we are able to provide meals to seniors and individuals with disabilities who are facing food insecurity, and families whose work or childcare obligations prevent them from coming to our weekly drive-through distribution. We are grateful for the City of San Jose’s financial support and are also calling on the community to support our ongoing efforts.”
