Many hardworking families in Holly Springs face a difficult choice during summer when school meals are unavailable: Pay bills or put food on the table?
Did you know?
- Through the end of April, the Holly Springs Food Cupboard served 1,894 client household visits, representing a 43% increase over the number of households served in the same time period in 2023.
- Through the end of April, the Cupboard distributed 2,229 student bags, which is a 67% increase over the number of student bags served in the first four months of 2023.
- The Cupboard has distributed over 5,000 jars of peanut butter and over 5,000 boxes of cereal this year.
According to Feeding America's Map the Meal Gap, in 2022:
- 11.1% of Wake County residents experience food insecurity. That's 1 in 9 people!

12.7% of children (1 in 8) in Wake County experience food insecurity.

The service the Cupboard provides would not be possible without all our volunteers. Cupboard volunteers were honored at an event last month where they enjoyed treats and raffles for small gifts - all donated by local businesses, including Chick-Fil-A, Taziki's Holly Springs, Voda Cleaning Restoration, MF Music Studio Student Success, Daisy Grove Company, Crazy and Cute Crafts, Little Dresses of Hope, Bless Your Heart Boutique, Julia Marie, Cake Creations By Maria, Serasana Holly Springs, Urban Chic Nail Bar, Bath & Bodyworks Holly Springs, Triangle Wine, NC Grass Greetings, Leigh Brantley at Compass, and so many more!
It was a small token of our appreciation for the tremendous service they provide in helping people facing food insecurity week after week.

Around the Cupboard Last Month | |
The sky is the limit... or at least the school roof... for Holly Ridge Elementary! Tremendous shout out to all of Holly Ridge Elementary and Mr. Everett, Mr. Collins, and Mr. Scarano who motivated students to drop off food items for an incredible donation to the Holly Springs Food Cupboard last month. The teachers slept on the school roof and held a dance competition to boost donations! | |

This talented and energetic team from Seqirus worked our garden and harvested 25 pounds of vegetables and herbs. They also hauled a lot of supplies to storage, weeded, and made some repairs on the hydroponic unit. Seqirus has been a long-time and valuable local partner over the years in support of the Food Cupboard. | |
Our garden was lucky to have some visitors from the the Holly Springs Teen Recreation Advisory Council. These future local leaders learned about our mission, harvested radishes, and put in more radish, green bean and sugar snap pea seeds. | | |
Did you know that we grow more than a dozen culinary herbs in our Food Cupboard garden -things like basil, rosemary, sage, cilantro, thyme, chives, oregano and dill? These herbs add a little spice to our clients’ meals. Our “garden guru” for herbs is Angela, a long-time garden volunteer, who directs our herb garden production and takes time to personally bag them up. | | |

F3 Nation Saves Garden Shed
The Cupboard's old garden shed needed a ton of TLC that was beyond regular volunteers' span of knowledge. The F3 Nation stepped up and got the work done. Over a two-week period, these men jacked up the shed, dug and poured four concrete footings, and replaced old floor joists that were destroyed by termites. We could not be more thankful for this group who time and time again has helped the Cupboard with major projects around the facility.

Did you know that most store-bought garlic comes from California or China? Well, Cupboard garlic is grown in our garden about 20 feet away from where it's distributed to clients... now THAT's local! And fresh! | |

Do you need food assistance? Know someone who does?
Please visit us. The Holly Springs Food Cupboard is here to help. Drive through food distribution is every Thursday, 2-5 p.m. Shopping food distribution by appointment only is every Monday, 1-4 p.m. Deliveries are available to persons with compromised health or without transportation. Donating food? How to Get Food to the Cupboard | |

The Cupboard can receive donated food on:
- Preferred hours: Mondays 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Also: Thursdays noon-5 p.m.
Bring donations to the delivery dock on the side of our facility and ring the doorbell for assistance. Or, give us a call and we can meet you to pick up food from your neighborhood.
If you have food that you want to deliver at other times, you can take it to one of our community drop-off sites listed below. If necessary, we can arrange a time for a pick-up. Please do not leave food outside the Cupboard.
