December 2023 Parent Bulletin

Greetings, Lions Family!

I can’t believe it is December already! This first semester has flown by.

This is a short month, but it is filled with activities and events for our scholars, the staff, and you. The annual Fall Book Fair kicks off the month. We also want to encourage you to set up an e-wallet for purchases. Details on the daily events and how to set up your e-wallet are in the flyer below.

Our scholars will take their second District Benchmark Assessments in grades K-8 in all subjects. The entire second week of the month is dedicated to testing. Please ensure that your scholar is at school on time each and every day. It is imperative that they don't miss their assessments; they count for a grade, and it is difficult for staff to find make-up times.

There will be only two field experiences this month. 3rd & 4th graders will visit the Interactive Aquarium, and 8th graders will travel to Main Event. All of our field experiences are connected to the TEKS (student learning standards), and scholars have a pre-lesson and a post-lesson for each one.

We will round off the first semester with our 2023 Christmas Production, Beauty and the Beast Jr. We will be at the Wortham Theater; please purchase your tickets before they are all gone. The Fine Arts Department and your scholars have worked really hard to bring you an AMAZING experience.

Parents, I still need your help with attendance. Our goal each day is 98%, and we have been well below that these past months. I understand that things happen and scholars get sick. However, please turn in doctors' notes when they are, and that helps us. It also significantly impacts your scholars' grades when they miss school.

Take this time to relax and enjoy family. The holidays are truly the most wonderful time of the year, and this is a time to be thankful and count our blessings. See you next year!!

My door is always open. Please stop by and say Hello!

Dear Parents,

As the end of the year approaches, encourage your scholars to finish strong. Anxiety and burnout can creep in just as easily as it does with adults. To combat this, talk with your scholar, letting them know they are not alone. Acknowledge their feelings. Create a plan and stick to a schedule, but most of all, make time for relaxation & fun.

You Got This!
